    Surface rust on cylinder.

I have a spare cylinder for my rm which has been sitting around for some time. It now has formed some surface rust down the bore. Can I use one of those scotch pads to clean it up or will I have to get it honed? It is very minor.

Yeah just clean it up with the scotch brite and some soap and water, dry it and spray it with some WD40 until your ready to use it. Iron oxide makes the metal tough. When rubbing it with the scotch brite, do so in a cross hatch pattern, the same way as a hone would do.

Twice the displacement, twice the cost and a decibel problem, I'll pass on the inside brraaaap!!!

Is that the original or the spare I gave you? They were both not sleeved i thought.

Boss engineering in Wanganui quoted me some good prices to sleeve a cyclinder.

I thought is was ok. I had it chew the occasional plug, but nothing too bad.

I had the few issues towards the end, but I think that alot of that was related to the weak spark issue that you sorted.

What oil are you running? and what premix are you running. I think that you are having similar issues to rudecopp with oil ratios.

Thought you sorted the top end with the power valve actuator bearing??? Have you got the washer fitted to the cylinder and is that oring on the pipe that goes into the cylinder?

Yeah I fixed the powervalve and it improved the top end situation. I will try some different ratios this weekend and get back to you. Yep there is 2 washers i think and the oring
