Any "printable" advice please........ I'd like to get to the bottom of this.
Sounds like a bit of hardening up might be in order. Spent a bit of time riding that model of bike and found it pretty comfortable. The CBR600RR was a much smaller and harder seat which made it more uncomfortable. However as I was continiously moving my arse from side to side for courners it was not a problem. Maybe your like me now? I sit in a wheelchair all day and do not move around in it at all. I have to lift up with my arms and move my arse off the seat of the chair for a arse pressure relief. If your sitting in the one position for any length of time your arse will get sore as the blood flow is hindered. Moving around on the seat can help that and a more agressive style of riding might help. Don't think its ony related to a sportsbike rider either as I moved around just as much on my 2004 DRZ400 too. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that website. They look pretty good. I will certainly keep it in mind. I may save that for my next bike ... if it's a keeper!
    Cheers.

No ... I'm not interested in doing 6 hour rides on a bloody pushbike. And ... I enjoy being self indulgent. I've earned it!

    Good Wool Co.

    Hi Gizzit,
Interesting question. Time on the bike and ergonomics will help. I had thought about a sheepskin seat cover and while in Berry, NSW I went to the 'Good Wool Co'. who advertise in Aussie bike mags.
For the V-strom they could make a seat for $A 250! Hell, I knew I could get a custom seat made in NZ for $500, so I declined and enjoyed the road from Berry into Kangaroo Valley, great ride.
Good luck with the bum hardening project. Cheers.

No .. I'm not like you, I don't sit in a wheelchair. That must be bloody hard, in more ways than one. However, I am a fellow RN. I do move around when I'm riding, but I still get a sore arse. Good to see your still doing it, and Psych is a good challenging area to work! Keep the Consta flowing
    Cheers.

I was refering to the way I was when I rode. Have not been in a wheelchair for that long. Maybe your bike has a dud seat because the 750F I rode was very comfortable...

Sheep skins are fine for long distance work. Your piles will thank you for it. You can even wear jeans. If you don't like it use it as a floor mat or give it to your pet. Other factors to consider are is your suspension setup right and are tire pressures correct. Too hard a suspension and or too high tire pressures can contribute to early pain in the arse (and back) syndrome.

Sheepskin Sales in Otaki (http://www.sheepskins.co.nz/) will custom make one while you wait for a pretty good price. I've bought 2 off them - good quality and fit. Mate stuck one on his GSX too.

PS: the Bandit's seat could be more comfortable...
PPS: ride more - train your butt
PPPS: after a GC (I've done 5) your butt isn't the only thing that's sore...

Hows that V-Strom on a long ride, anyway? It's one of the bikes I may consider .. with some decent road tyres on it ...
And thanks. I'll be getting a hard bum from just reading the replies by the looks, as my arse is getting a fair old kicking over needing the HTFU pills !! lol

What Kickaha saidI have a Rider Custom Seat (see Custom seat evaluation fromBlackbird). Was totally awesome for the Rusty Nuts Grand Challenge (1000miles 1600km). Any seat ya can do 1600km+ and still feel like riding afterwards has got to be worth it. Don't waste ya time with sheep skin (have tried that). No good in the wet.
