Although I dont agree with this thread at all...

Why should it be in PD? KB is not about stopping people from having opinions and discussing them.

I have my eye on this thread and will see how it goes.

I was referring specifically to people who, in their infinite wisdom, take it upon themselves to explain (or demonstrate) to new riders how to negotiate corners at anything above cruising speed. It appears to happen on Kiwibiker rides all too often.

    because:
the photo was taken out of context and person in attacked even though there is a ton of photo's all over the forums of people doing more "dangerous" things

    examples:

    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/photopost...php/photo/3751
    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/photopost...php/photo/3533
    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/photopost...php/photo/2593
its unfair these people dont get their own 250 post threads?

its not really uncomon to move a bike without a helmet, parking, moving into the workshop? calm down.

    and vote to close thread
I only posted this because of the global economic crisis

Ah, unsubstantiated allegations again...you must work in editorial
I have just asked her to explain her actions - hell, maybe for once you ARE telling it like it is and she was at a complete standstill.

    I don't actually work in editorial, I'm self-employed.

I think it's bloody hypocritical (thanks for the rep anyway) of Crashe to act like this WHATEVER THE CIRCUMSTANCES and yet if any of us dares criticise her, we cop the flack. Surely she is big enough and ugly enough (a commonly used phrase, not intended to be taken literally) to speak up for herself? She is certainly not backward in coming forward when SHE wants to throw some shit.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Waow talk about being thrown to the lions.

None of us are perfect and we all make mistakes

Crashe will now know what its like to be famous - photos taken out of context (or not) and splattered across magazines with opinions galore

No wonder hollywood stars never read or comment on stuff about themselves

I'm Paul in NZ and I'm a dangerous man..... (Appologies to Trace Adkins)

Usually Im level-headed aint too excitable
Keep it on the slow and steady, Mr. Dependable
Always had the same job, the same look, the same friends
Thats the way its gonna stay
Thats the way its always been

I never knew I had another side
But FZR with you Im Jekyll and Hyde

    [Chorus:]
When the lights are down low
And you nibble on my neck
    I cant be held responsible
    For what might happen next
    No telling what Ill do
When I get you in my hands
    With a bike like you
    Im a dangerous man
    Yeah Im a dangerous man

I got the little FZR goin' on sunday night... Fired right up, flames spewed from the open carbs right in front of the uncovered tank and up into my face - I threw a rag over the battery and jumped right on for a quick rarck up my street - no gloves, no jacket, no lid, raining, no seat, no tank, no fairings, no registration and no wof! I didn't check the tyres for air or adjust the chain - I just went wraaap up the driveway.... I'm a bad man, a dangerous man.... Look out.... Neebies stayaway from me - just lookin' at me will take years off your life - never let me talk to you - likely to kill you ..... I think I went faster than 50kph as well....

    I'm one bad ass biker......

Folks - points been made - we've all done it - build a bridge - mooooove on....

    Hey Beemer,

Don't know you so won't make judgements.

Crashe shouldn't have to lower herself or open herself up for more shit from people so I'm glad she's staying out of the thread. If you were (or any of us) were put up for people to throw shit at, would you be happy reading about people saying nasty things about you personally (not just your riding). How happy do you think you'd be?

The feel of the posts defending crashe are basically that the nastiness is uncalled for.

She was invited on the ride, wasn't doing anything in a mentoring facility, and chose to ride a short distance without your gear, photo taken and posted up. She wasn't the first to the petrol station like this I'm told, however it's the only snap of one of those attending doing this. I wonder if this would have been such a big thread if it had been anyone else, or even if the thread would have started.

Let the thread die, she's human, we all know we should wear gear and most of us do. Tearing someone to pieces is just uncalled for.

Down here in the naki I guess things get done a tad differently. I also cannot say that I have witnessed any of the quoted problems out on rides either. Although if I did, I'd be seriously reconsidering the people that I rode with. Personally I allway thought riding is supposed to be an enjoyable experience irrelevant of skill factor, what you ride or where you ride. If there are problems in those areas then perhaps some people should reconsider their riding habits or in fact if riding a motorcycle is a good idea for them. At the end of the day everyone makes their own decisions, good or bad. Its up to bikers as individuals to decide for themselves how to carry on, or if they are going to carry on riding. I've ridden with alot of different bikers, from Max and Rastis, kids learning, patch members to the more advanced sportsbike riders. I enjoyed each ride and was allways happy to point out ways to better their riding or have others point out ways that I could better my riding skills. I never bad mouthed anyone although at times I would be pissing myself over some stuff that happened, like nadroj having a chook go under his bike and be spat out the rear wheel, just missing me on the CBR600RR as I was tucked in behind him and we was getting along quite nicely considering where we was riding. The day that I was in Taupo looking at buying the DRZ400 I rode it with shorts and a t-shirt down the road just to make sure it was worth buying. I popped a wheelie on it as I came into where we was staying as from just that one ride I knew I was going to love it. Now I've had a car do a U-turn in frount of me in the past while wearing shorts and a t-shirt and it resulted in alot of painfull road rash, yet I still took the risk. I think at the end of the day its our choice to ride how we want. But also our choice to decide who we ride with. Thats about the size of it really, IL4 out.
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.

Hear hear, perhaps it got a little personal. But perhaps also your message would carry a little more weight if the very person you are defending would conduct herself in that manner.
I have been publicly berated by Crashe whilst conducting a training ride as has MackTheKnife on a separate occasion. In either case it would have been preferable had she actually known what she was talking about, but she didn't let that temper the tirades.

As for the wearing of appropriate gear. Sure, photos abound of people wearing "inappropriate" gear and/or doing "silly" stuff, the difference as I see it is - do we see Big Dave or Drew impersonating mentors and voiciferously preaching safety? Well I haven't.

So ok, it isn't the biggest sin in the world and doesn't warrant a public lynching, but it is a little hypocritical of her to wear inappropriate gear when she preaches it and not expect a public beat up when she tries to dish it.

I think both sides arguments have merit but the salient point is the mere posting of the photo was enough to create a storm so like we say you have to dish it to receive it.

Perhaps personal issues did interfere which is wrong and of what little I know Crashe does dish it out so I guess the wind blows back sometimes.

Good on Crashe for letting everyone let of steam about it and not taking part herself.

Either way a lesson to be learnt......failure to wear arse gear is more fun.
