For the love of all things pointy, this horse is dead people, can we stop bloody flogging it now?

Take it to PM, all the (ir)relevant for/against arguments being repeated are pretty bloody boring now.

    Thankee.

It was worth reading for the first dozen or so posts... then people let emotion cloud their thinking and away it went...

Now it's to remind myself why I don't post in shitfight threads when people are in vent mode.

Crashe, you rock as a person. Don't take the shit spewed up to heart.

To everyone else - it's her life. If she wants to ride from the petrol station to the chippy with no lid or protection - that's her choice. I'd wear gear, but again - THATS HER CHOICE. Leave her alone and go find something else to do.

Mom - if you've got a problem with Crashe - go talk to her - don't do it like this.

I'm not encouraging people to ride without gear, I'm upset at a mate being ripped to pieces on this thread.
For no fucking reason at all.

    Too fucking right, Jamie.

It makes me laugh. If some of the people on here had half a clue, they'd be dangerous. As it is, they're just a bit sad and pathetic.

For the people who are bleating on about always wearing the gear all the time, riddle me this.

Do you put your helmet on when you're moving the bike up and down the drive, or around the garage? Why not? You might fall off and bang your head.

Do you hang around ohhh, lets say, Cycletreads, or Mt Eden, and get your knickers in a twist when those irresponsible lads in the workshop move bikes around (gasp) with no helmet! In front of people who may or may not be newbies!

Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children!

I and many others (probably 1/2 doz) rode 50 meters down the road to the servo to gas up. I doubt I got over 10kmh for the entire 30 seconds I was riding. There were certainly no cars on that streach of road at the time.

And I didn't wear a helmet. Get the fucking stake ready, cos there's gunna be a Dopa burnin', y'all.

Taking a risk? Probably. Compare that to thrashing around some of the slippery twisties outside Clevedon, which every single person on that ride did about an hour later.

Bad example? Fuck right off. Who nominated me as a community leader when I wasn't looking? All the noobs there were old enough to think for themselves.

I wear 'all the gear, all the time', when I'm actually going to do some riding. I don't actually feel the need to wear my helmet and gloves all the time in case I trip on a carelessly laid paving stone when I'm walking towards my bike, to prevent me getting a nasty gravel rash. Perhaps I should wear it in bed, in case the ceiling collapses.

Next time, I'll really give you something to gossip about at the vicars tea party, and do it naked, wearing a blindfold while raping a granny.

What a fucking load of old shit. Cunts, the lot a ya.

Mmmm, who is morally outraged by these pics? I see both views in this thread and feel it was up to the more expert riders on thwe day day to have a crack at her, which they did. Not much point going on about it now. BTW, is there a bike in the first pic?

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

ok... havent read all the posts [read the first 4 or 5 pages, and then skipped the rest.]

first: to whoever posted the pic of "indian bob" i think youll find its "indian larry" and he was an awesome bloke, from what ive read [and fuckin good looking too!]

second: i still wear an l plate, so am considered a learner in the eyes of the law. crashe has shown and explained to me how to ride no hands, but ive only managed to do it once [more to being gutless!] i used to ride no hands on the gn when going downhill.
the photo in first post has given me hope of being able to stand on the pegs and give me arse a rest when i go down south.

sure, crashe stuffs up sometimes. but hey, dont we all? i mean, fuck, im human. what about you? i sometimes ride my bike with no lid at the servo when im moving it. ive also read ON HERE about people riding their bikes up and down their street after tinkering to make sure the engines running right. my mechanic has done it when he fixed my speedo.

i would expect that the majority of actual witnesses to the event would have a single grain of common sense on whether to copy crashe or not. i wouldnt do something just cos someone else did it [otherwise id be drunk, stoned, pregnant and have 5 kids already] i do it to challenge what my body can do, in a possibly tricky situation. i do the same with weight lifting, when i am motivated enough. think i was doing 200kg on the leg press before that car hit me, and between 80-100kg on the squat machine.

to those who were actually there and saw crashes antics: did any one of you ACTUALLY mimic what was done? how many arsed off? none? so whats the big fucking deal??

EDIT: just had a re-read, and i have to agree, the personal attacks were totally uncalled for! sure, crashe is overweight [so am i] but id like to see some of you guys do any major exercise when you have the knees of an 80 year old. [speaking of my own, but im betting crashes arent much better]

lets just close this off, and start piling 15 pages of shit on the people the binned.

Well, only three of us actually witnessed the photo...but we were all between the ages of 33 and 37 and therefore very impressionable none of us had the guts to copy though. Perhaps once we've given birth to kids ourselves we'll have the bravery to emulate crashe...mind you all three of us are blokes so guess we'll just have to settle for the odd mono from time to time eh?

    Thumbs down

I want to post.. as everyone else has.....
Whats wrong? Pic looks fine... maybe a faster shutter speed, so there is more colour, loved the movement in the jacket...

I love the fact that people here love to help others out, I HATE those who don't but still find time to bitch about it.

I gave-up reading this thread after the first 3 pages, I shouldn't be posting this as it will more than likely keep it in the home page.

Nice to see bikers standing up for their friends .

So if we're taking sides I take the side of the person who helps others over the rest of you.

New riders should concentrate on learning the skills of gaining total control of their bike, recognising hazards around them and "reading the road". There is no place for teaching new riders The Art of the Racing Line - (or how to ride with no hands for that matter).
