Questions about 2005 SV650S's

When would stock arrrive + any discounts on pre order? :P

If anyone has tried a SV650S what is your thoughts and comments? As I am looking at getting one as my 2nd bike, after my VTR250.

The britten has a carbon fibre one

But I think alot more bikes are coming out with plastic tanks, I know the CBR1000RR does, not sure about the SV650 though. Ring up your local suzuki dealer.

Dunno 'bout the metal/plastic tank thing, but I'd presume they're metal, as the only bikes with plastic tanks are generally ones where the fuel tank's under the seat, and the 'tank' is a cover for the airbox. I don't think the SV is in that category.
A guy at work's bought a new SV650 - that is to say, he bought it nearly a month ago, and it's arriving in about a week. Since he 'bought' it, hes been riding loaner bikes from Cyclespot. So unless they're getting a big shipment in, you may have a delay. I doubt whether you'll get a discount, as I think the margins on new bikes are pretty slim, with most of the profits coming from servicing, parts, etc.
I tried one of the previous model SV650Ss (the carbed ones) and it was OK, handling very well and all that, but it didn't do anything for me (too slow, sounded too much like a lawnmower). However, coming off a VTR250, you'd probably love it. The Guy At Work (should get him to sign up to KB with that monicker) has had the SV1000 and an SV650S as loaners, and prefers the SV650 as it's lighter, more economical and therefore better for commuting.

Just got my restricted, and hopefully my full by end of the year. I think I am at around 75% of my 250, and might take me a few more months to get to 90% (but not sure if I want to push that far on open roads).

I was waiting for one of the new SV's to turn up but got impatient and bought a new Firestorm instead anyway this is one of the only sites I found that an info on the SV650SK4.. nothing about a plastic tank...

Oh I did have the earlier SV carbed model, nice bike all round, you could get some pretty good deals on the current SK3 as most shops want to flick them for the new model which I doubt they will discount much...

Mrs Airplane has an '03 SV650s. It has a metal tank. I don't think the '04 model is any different from the '03.

Great little bike; with a Neptune exhaust, it sounds cool.

If you're not worried about fuel injection, then if you want to save some pennies, nothing wrong with looking at one of the older models.

The older model runs on carbs and I think has a nicer look to it. I had one of the original ones out (1999) and am currently riding a 2001 model.

The new model (the more angular looking one) sports a different chassis (pressed frame, so the frankly awful welds aren't there), the seat is even less comfortable, the seat height is taller and it is fuel injection.

I don't know if it is the case, but the 2005 model was supposed to be getting a form VVT (Variable Valve Timing) to smooth out the fuel injection. I think Suzuki had picked out the SV engine as it is relatively simple (and it is used on a wide range of machinery).

from pictures of 05 sv i have seen, they have a black frame,which to me looks bad.but then i have the 1999 models and think they lost the plot with the 2003 on wards.
