    More winter bliss.

Managed to get out into the hills again today. A bit frosty first up, but the day was glorious.
Attacked a few more unridden roads that will help make up the Waikato Adv run later this year. I now have the option of two routes taking shape, so Nth and Sth people will be able to arrive and leave on different routes. Well, thats the theory anyway.

Pic 1 A brisk Honikiwi morning.

    Pic 2 Hauturu Valley.

    Pic 3 Tawarau saddle.

    Pic 4 More tempting tracks.

Hope it rains and the scrambler has to have a rest.

Bloody good photo's tho, it's certainly a great area to ride with lots of choice and neat roads.

He he, the only one that needed a rest was me.
580 odd kms, and most off the seal. At this rate, I'll need to replace the new rear tyre for clints gig.

This is a really, really rough map, showing in black, some of the roads that will be used.
It starts up near Raglan, and travels as far inland as Owhango, taking in alot of valleys around Waitomo, Ohura, and out to Ahiti near Mokau, before going back up the coast, including the entertaining Pomarangai rd.
To do a full trip, and make it worth while, I envisage a two night, three day trip. Probably staying at the Awakino hotel one night, and maybe the Raglan or similar on the second. Thats all to be worked out later. But if people are going to travel from Welly etc, the extra day will be required logistically.

    Sorry about the shitty maps.
This is the run down: I propose a 3 day, 2 night trip. Its a fair way for the Welly/sth crew to come, and it would give everyone a relaxed trip.
Day1: People make there way to Awakino. I have some route suggestions for different groups, but this can be discussed later. Stay the night at the Awakino pub.
Day2: Awakino--nth going up the Marakopa rd, and then cross onto the Pomarangai saddle. Travel further nth to Raglan, choosing our route to suit.(maybe out to Taharoa, or Kawhia for lunch etc. Travel around the coast and into raglan. Stay at the pub, or somewhere similar.
Day 3: Ntherncrew choose if they want to do more of the roads on offer, or start heading home. Sthern crew to travel sth on the choice of gravel roads available. They could exit the gravel at Taurumanui, or continue on gravel through to Owhango, near National Park. The Turakina valley is also a great ride, and would bring them out nth of Marton.
This is a base plan, and will get worked through by you lot. I'm thinking Oct-Nov. The route is a good one, the rest is up to us, and the weather.

Count me in man! That's some of the best routes I can recall (as long as it isn't labour weekend... she's always booked) maybe, better if it's once day light savings starts...
