    Hornet 250 rear shock

Let a large friend go for a ride and am pretty sure that he blew the rear shock (Oil on the swing arm etc).

Can anyone help with approx cost for a second hand one or other options and prices to fix it?

    It's a 96 Hornet 250.

You might find an after market shock is both cheaper and better than the stock Honda item. The 250 Hornet is expensive over here, but standard they were a fairly mid-market bike with relatively ordinary equipment levels. As such you can probably improve rear damping quite easily. I've had a number of recommendations for twin shocks, but for monoshocks I have no clue.

Ask your local bike shop, they might have some good ideas.

yeah 12345-678, - have it written down next to my keyboard waiting for this day.
or try that internet thing I hear about.

I wouldn't blame your friend for the shocks demise. I mean really, the oil is not filled up so that it can hydraulic & this blow the seal.

This would be happening all the time in America if this was the case -- or more-so if you put a pillion on, as they are further back.

Someone like cycleworks or Brunn(sp) engineering sometimes can fix non serviceable shocks, but they would have to answer/ look at it.
Don't you look at my accountant.

I know bikebuster on 'tardme are wrecking a 250 hornet. Just give them a query about whether the shock on that is still good or not! (Reminds me, I better get in again and purloin some more parts!)
