The "Why 2nd Hand isn't 2nd Best" feature - photos needed!

To everyone that I've been in touch with about this - got the following message from my Editor:

"Why Second Hand Isn't Second Best. Really like this. Plan to carry it in our January issue, which goes on sale December 17.

I think our buyers will find it a great Christmas read. I love the fact that
you've used quotes from so many riders. Is there any chance you could call
them and ask if they could send pictures of themselves and their bikes."

Well calling is a bit tricky, seeing you're XX thousand miles away (!), but of course I can contact you here...

So if any of you guys (the ones that I've been in touch with about their comments) can provide photos of yourself with your bike, this would be fantastic.

Best way for me to get my crubby mitts on them would be to post them on here, then I can copy them over.

Seeing as they're going into a print magazine, they'll need to be as good as you can make them.

Alternatively, PM me with the pix and again I'll copy them.

Thanks all - I'm hoping the article will appear on the magazine's website as well as in the print edition, as that'll make it easier to show you. But if it doesn't, I'll still sort out some way of letting you see it.

Look forward to hearing from you (you know who you are!),

    Bob

Scanned will be fine - I think if you're scanning, it/they need to be 300dpi. Anything less than that and they'll fall below magazine spec.

    Thanks again,

You have access to a scanner?
I've got an old slow one but it does the job and I'd be happy to help. PM me if you want.

Here's a pikky of my mates Pantah 500 and my Interga at Eketahune a couple of weekends back. In the background are a couple of HDs who where on their way home to Wellington from Gisbourne. The Duke was bought secondhand (was stored for quite a few years and got wind of from another friend) and one piston was seized. GN250 liners were used to bring her back to life. The 2nd photo is my '81 GSX750EX original 20,000kms on the clock. I had a new EZ(the last of the early gassaxes with a round headlamp, same colour scheme as this one and wished I'd kept it. This thing brings back fond memories chasing much higher capacity bikes in the early '80s. I like bikes with plenty of leg room. As you can see I'm a bit of a dog when it come to m/cs Third pick is my CB550FA had it since '86. It rattles and glanks but is fun to ride. Have a spare motor in bits "just in case". Even now new parts are surprisingly easy to get. And there are some great sights dedicated to SOHC Honda 4s. Last pic is a '73 C50 and 80s something CB250RS. Each waiting for a "round to it".

Some of my bikes - the XLV750 wasn't too bad when I got it,just the tank has been done, the TLR200 was a pig hunters bike, this after a strip and rebuild. The XT400 was as traded and just needed a tidy up.The XS1 was a $200 wreck, with constant attention and a handful of loose change it has been transformed into a $200 wreck.

No,it's crap,I only had it on for that one ride - the center knobs are too closely spaced,it has no braking control and I was doing major lock ups on corner entry. It goes on the XLV750 next, the Sahara 3 has done 3000km and is near gone. But if it won't give traction to an XT400 how the hell will it cope with that brute? at least it won't last long anyway...
