My mountain biking experience is pretty good so far... I've done a total of about 30km's so far in the 3 days I've had it, so that's like... 10km a day, so by the end of this I should be pretty damn fit.

As soon as I'm allowed back on a motorised version of two wheel transport, I plan to follow the rules of the road a lot more closely than I used to... I'm not gonna say I'm never gonna speed, cause I know it will come back on me if/when I do. I do however plan to be a better "Citizen of the Road"

Well, Court finally happened on Monday for the incident: "ZeroIndex Bins"

I think I got off pretty damn lightly, and when I get my license back, to be a lot more careful, and I really hope I can continually learn my lesson.

So, what did I do wrong (according to the police report)? I ran a red light at 3am on a fairly deserted road, turned up another road, at which the cops got behind me, put on their red and blue flashy lights, which I didn't notice due to no mirrors, although they said I looked back and then raced off, which I have no idea why I did that, but that aside, did approx 100km/h in a 50km/h area, cut a corner, narrowly missing a car, then on the next corner, high-sided off my bike.

I remember leaving my friends house just before 3am, then I woke up in hospital, and after visiting my doctor the other day, it turns out I suffered quite a severe concussion.

So, motto of the story, always wear a helmet, don't run red lights, and don't be an idiot. For now I have learnt my lesson, and I'm hoping that it stays that way.

For my troubles (talking about being let off lightly), they disqualified my license for 6 months (which I expected), gave me 60 hours of community work (since I don't have a job and can't afford to pay a fine), and to top it off, which worked out pretty well (due to me not being able to afford a fine), they confiscated my bike (I just dropped it off at Turners Auctions, Hamilton).

Their reason for confiscating my bike is very reasonable, cause my charges were "Not stopping for a vehicle displaying red and blue flashing lights" and "Dangerous Driving", and the "not stopping" only carries a cash value fine (up to $4500), which they pretty-much dropped and just confiscated my bike (which I would've been happy to sell for $500).

Thanks to the people on my "ZeroIndex Bins" thread that didn't personally attack me. I now know what I did, and know that it was wrong, and hopefully anyone reading this doesn't make the same mistake.

Sounds like a relatively hard pill to swallow bro. Although it could have ended up alot worse, its good to hear that your OK. Great news that you have learnt from the experience and hope to avoid making the same mistakes in the future. Maybe you should hang around skidMark as a bit of your attitude could be a good influence on him, that and you can tell him what to expect as he is about to go through the same thing. Respect for handing your bike over, that would not have been an easy thing to do. I'm sure you will be back riding soon enough and a better biker for what you have learnt.

Thank God for pushbikes and computers... without those I'd have gone insane by now... I'm not gonna pushbike all the way up to Auckland to try rub some Attitude-Adjuster(TM) on skidMark, and I doubt he'll take a bus either...

Handing over the bike was easy... pushing it there (2km, so not so bad) was the hard part (except for the only hill between me and Turners Auctions, which I coasted down half of it in a high-chair position ), once I finished pushing it there, put it on the sidestand, walked inside the reception threw the keys on the counter handed over the paper, then asked "anything I need to sign", which was quickly followed by the receptionists: "no"... I then walked out, and walked home.
