Yes 1300 would work much better for taller folks. My issue was not being able to tuck my head behind the screen, there is till like good 6~8inch gap with me head down tucked in. As that will be the wind protection I need for longer trips or when it is strong head wind on the motorway. I am 180cm. And the bird fits me nicely. I have longish legs. If you have any longer legs you'll find it hard to tuck them behind the fairing. Each to their own, I have a 900 Hornet when I need wind in my hair. Wonder why they call the Hornet "Hairnet" :P

Oh the 1300 does have one nice advantage... the 15L (from memory) of underseat storage space... where as the bird has stuff all.
I got the 900 this afternoon. Swapped it for the 1300. Nice black and naked.

They need to give you one with MX bars on it. They make a huge difference. Like a 900cc IL4 motard.

Nice looking bike! How do you find that small screen help? does it give you helmet protection,or just upper body ?
    Cheers,
    Grant.

pS have looked at the GSX1400, but from reports it doesn't handle as well as the CB1300 or the bandit. I prefer the look of both the CB1300S and the Bandit 1250S

The CB1300, like most of the big nakeds/standards has an up-swept exhaust pipe with the result that the pillion pegs are mounted high in relation to the seat. If passenger comfort is important - check that he/she is happy with this before you buy.

The GSX1400 isn't so bad, you'll have a giggle, but it won't last. You'll go "whooshhhh" and "zoooommmm" in a straight line a few times then get bored. Despite the massive amount of cubes, it's not that powerful. Or if it is, it's hiding all that horsepower behind a 6 tonne flywheel. A hornet 900 would probably go just as fast in a straight line, but run rings around it in a carpark.

I reckon you'll miss the fairings of your GSXF. If you lust for power, what about a Hayabusa? But then you get stuck with looks that from many angles are pretty fugly.

Hi Grant, The Givi screen is amazingly efficient for its size (it's not the really small one). I'm 6ft 4" and I get no pressure on my chest and shoulders and no significant helmet buffeting either. The Riders seat has also raised me up by about 40mm too!

But MRA make an adjustable screen for the CB (and other nakeds). See attached pic. Available in NZ from Desmodromics.
    Might be tempted meself!!

Quite right, My OH (Bex) suffered with this, but the seat mod has fixed the problem.

I hope I don't miss the full fairing too much! I actually LIKE the look of the mini fairing on the CB1300S !! And I like the look of the Bandit 1250S as well. I prefer that style rather than a naughty .... completely naked bike !!!

As for the Busa .... IMHO .... they are fugly ... but everyone to their own. I also don't like that more aggressive sitting position, so that and the Blackbird don't suit me for that reason. I've looked at options but still come back to the practical big bikes ... the CB1300S ,,. .. and the Bandit 1250S.... is still a possibility.
I can't think of anything else that fits my requirements like those two bikes seem to.

Thanks for that Richard. Your bike looks really nice. I imagine those Givi screens or the MRA one you mention a both excellent. However, ..... I am one of the "few" maybe, that actually LIKE the mini screen on the CB1300S. I think it looks cool! If I go for the Honda, it will definitely be the "S" model.
And from what you told me about the Rider seat, that will definitely be an addition fairly early on. Like you two have done, we will go for an increase in the pillion seat for the same reason. As I'm 5'11", I may not get much - if any increase in the seat hight for me, .... just very comfortable !!

Did you put a power commander on your bike when you did the pipe ? Just that I looked at a really nice 2006 CB1300S at Takapuna that has a power commander put in it, and a very nice sounding Akrapovic pipe. Apparently the power commander makes an already very smooth motor .... even more smooth !!?? I was told that ..... but I wouldn't know. What are your views on doing that to the CB ?
I like the idea of a lighter and slightly louder pipe, and any jetting or air filter mods that need to be done to do that ... ?
That particular CB is on TradeMe:

In a word, no. The can was a straightforward replacement. I havent adjusted or added any other ignition or air filter components. As a result, I'm not particularly au fait with Power Commanders on the CB.

    However...look see here:
    http://www.bikersoracle.com/cb1300/f...ower+Commander

...and you can read loads about worldwide CB owners and their thoughts, loves and hates with regard to the bike.
