    Well Mr FS

I can relate to your experience just a tad. My first KB ride and I turn up to a "slow" ahem yes "slow" ride. I keep up for all of 10 mins.

Ummmmm...yes you couldnt miss the MadDuck cos she was the only gal there and they didnt appear too friendly - AT FIRST! Then again they proly shit scared to say hello unless I bite their ankles

Needless to say I hung in there and they are a damn good bunch. Hope you are not put off by one ride and you still bringing yourself and Mrs Fhartstorm to Tookanau <---- you know what I mean

Perhaps we can catigorise the rides as scratches and cans, and cruises.
And I woulda said Hi! to ya's. :spudwave:
There's no need to have seperate rides for fast and slow,it's just unfortunate that firestormers first group ride with us went badly for him.As I said,we wait for everyone at places, unfortunately he missed us.No-one grumbles about waiting,we're used to it.We also had none of our 250 boys with us this time,a couple of whom would prolly have been glad to have the company.
Don't be put off F/S,we'll be happy to have your and Mrs F/S along again.

Come down to Wellington sometime, we'll look after you. Because I always seem to be a busy man I have only been on two KB rides and this was the last one I was on http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=4971 and generally most people were very friendly. We spent time talking before departure, made sure we regrouped regularly and ate together. Couldn't ask for better than that really. That is Lynda lets the rest of us say a few things sometimes.

I ride occasionally in other groups too (with Lynda in e-riders and with Ulysses) and the KB team ride was much the same as I experience on the other rides, with Ulysses being a shade bureaucratic in comparison.

So I have no complaints. We didn't have to worry about WT racing off into the distance because he was wasted from the night before - see first pic in that series.
    Cheers

    Merv

I wouldn't say my first KB ride "went badly". I didn't think, "Damn! Those bastards aren't waiting for us - they've left us behind!"
I realised we were riding slower than the group, and just accepted that.
Getting split off from the group was probably my fault, for not confirming what the route was, and where the stops were.
Mrs FS was a little concerned that because she was a non-rider that that somehow confirmed a different status on us, but I reassured her that wasn't the case.
What's put me off more than anything was getting a ticket. I wasn't too bummed out about it at the time, but this morning was my first ride since Saturday, and I felt somewhat paranoid riding to work. It made me realise that at least part of the enjoyment I get from riding comes from "illicit activities". A bit of a worry, that is.:spudwhat:
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Well, carry on as before, then. A ticket, not a ticket, chances of bad things happening subsequently stay the same.

Of course, if you're admitting that your behaviour was the result of silliness, hoonitude and naughty immaturity, which you have now been snapped out of... WELL! I have nothing but disgusted opprobrium for you, I'm afraid.

Is "Disgusted Opprobrium" another fine Galbraith's ale? Must be a scary brew, if you're afraid....
