Well, Mrs FS said there were some bikes at the servo, when we stopped on the corner, but I looked, and the ones I saw didn't look like you guys.
I had no idea where you guys were going, so I thought you'd either fucked off into the distance at warp speed, or turned off somewhere. Anyways, we felt like we were gate-crashers on the ride, so we headed North, turned off at the Mangawhai turnoff, and went up the coast to Waipu. Absolutely brilliant! I'd done the reverse ride once before, and we had an absolute blast.
Then we had afternoon tea with Mrs FS's cousin and Tante Nellie, then came back the main road way, because time was tight and my knees were complaining. I nearly turned off at Kaipara Flats, and wish I had now.
Can't complain really, as I wasn't being controlled, and should've remembered that stretch between there and Orewa was crawling with cops on the weekends. Just lucky I didn't get pinged for 180....
Mrs FS was very good about it. She's great, and REALLY enjoyed the ride, especially the bit just south of Langs Beach, which was terrific.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Yeah, you too, Mr Zed. Thought for a while we'd turned up at the wrong place. These can't be KBers - they're not very friendly.
    Is it usually like that?

Next time, I won't wear disguise - I'll dress in my usual rolled-up trou and shirtsleeves, and hanky on head.
In fact, MikeL and JRandom didn't say anything on our second meeting on Friday (maybe they didn't notice), but I don't recognise myself either, as I'm clean-shaven for the first time in a very long while... :spudwhat:

Oh yeah - and I'd like to take this opportunity to once again address the Evil, Pernicious, Vindictive Biker Gods:

Have to use pictures, coz they're STUPID!!

Oh, I noticed, but for all I knew you're one of those guys who swaps from month to month. You didn't exactly have the ZZ Top thing going on before, anyway.

And after all, we're Hairy-Arsed Bikers, not a bunch of fashion-conscious witterers who comment on each other's hairstyles.

On the contrary, I found them all to be a very friendly bunch! Maybe everyone was a bit standoffish at the beginning, which is normal on all rides I've been on, but when we stopped in Wellsford we all had a good chat...and off course we talked some more during our stop at Maungawhai Rd.

Then there's the "online persona" thing where some people are different in person than they are online in KB! I must admit it is weird meeting someone for the first time in the flesh when you've been communicating with them directly/indirectly nearly every day for months on end!

    One of my favourite proverbs:
Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly...

Well, I'm not an extroverted type of guy, but was looking forward to meeting some KBers. When we turned up at the servo, everyone seemed to be socialising, yet no-one came over and said "Hi!", so I went into the group, and said (because I couldn't catch anyone's eye), "So who are we all?" Draco introduced herself, as did Lou, then Zed, and that was it (as far as I remember). Draco pointed out a few peoples to me, and then we were off. I thought, "Oh well - at tleast we can catch up with folks at the coffee stop, if we have one.." This was Mrs FS's first meeting with biker types, and after me raving about all the 'meetings' I've had with people on-line, and biker commaraderie in general, that you weren't as friendly as she expected, and perhaps we were 'on the outer' because I was the only one with a pillion. Subsequently she asked (when we missed you guys at Wellsford) if it was a nuisance that we were slower than the group, and said I could go faster if I wanted to.

This is only the third group ride (not counting the Honda Owners Club, back in the 70s) I've been on, and can't honestly say it was any less friendly than others.
Are we as bikers less friendly than the general populace?

Bummer I decieded not to go FS, I would have travelled at sub warp so it would have been the both of us lost from the group.
'er indoors wanted to go as well, but I said " ya don't wanna go riding with that lot, someone cans off every time"
Perhaps we can catigorise the rides as scratches and cans, and cruises.
And I woulda said Hi! to ya's. :spudwave:
