agreed......bit like the yanks whinging about Germans shooting there prisoners, many accounts of both them and the poms doing the same. Then again the propaganda machine had the british public believing the Germans ate babies in WW1.

Hi there, we import all types of helmets including the WW2 and Outlaw types you are looking for. They are also DOT approved. Check out our Website and drop me a line.
Check out this as an alternative.

Good idea!
I like an open-face helmet - feels good - but I don't like the odds.
Last study I came across - similar to the diagram poster earlier - about 66% of all impacts on the head will first fall around the jaw.
Another big thing is the full face not only protects that area, but has superior strength - with a more complete sphere.
Open face helmet - cool.
Smashed or ripped of jaw?no-so...
statistics are marvellous things, can be used to prove anything
some statistics show that helmets are dangerous, in the states in the us where they have repealed helmet laws the number of bikers getting killed reduces
the theory is that the extra weight of the helmet causes more damage than it adds in protection
not interested in getting into arguments about what is right or wrong but it should be up to an individual what they choose to wear, not up to the nanny state to tell us what to wear
Because I'm a wimp I'd be worried about the image I was sending out.
For example, the Hog riders group in Brisbane about two years ago decided to have their logo on the back of their jackets like a patch. The Bandidos and Balck Uhlans etc took exception to this, as in if you are going to look like a gang we'll treat you like one.
One luvverly Saturday morning outside Morgan and Wacker in town the hogs were setting out for a run, and some of the above mentioned pulled the leader off his bike and gave him a nasty flogging, and destroyed the patch - this is basically in the middle of town. Supposedly because he had beaten his wife (oh, the irony!).
After a few other incidents like that, the hog patch was dropped. Bullying and intimidation works, children!
So if you are going to wear a WWII helmet, make sure you can handle any fall out that may come your way. Because it will attract unwanted attention, IMO.
Illuc ivi, illud feci.
Buggrim, Buggrit.
Thats a fair call - I don't like the nanny state anymore than the rest of us BUT.... If you do have an accident (god forbid) who is going to patch you up? Unfortunately it's the nanny states medical system and thus they do have some grounds to request us to exercise reasonable care and use appropriate protection systems. If the medical emergency system was private - it would be a matter between you and your insurer. Its a difficult one...
