Yes, well. He's probably meaner looking than me!!

Interesting the whole anti German WWII regalia thing. Because it was the British who invented concentration camps, and left women and children to die there, in the Boer war . . . I suppose you could argue that they didn't gas them, but deliberately starving people to death is no different.

Thats because all the survivours of the 3rd Reich ended up living in secret in Mossburn isn't it? Its a cultural icon down your way!

I think they may have invented the name 'Concentration camp' but the theory has been around for a fair while... ;-)

It was just in the news just the other day that documents have been released that the Poms (Mr Churchill himself) ordered the NINO BIXIO to be sunk knowing that it had POWs on board. 300 killed including 117 Kiwis - My Grandfather was one of those POWS - he didnt die, but he did tell me about it - and when you hear a story like that you can see why this kind of thing is emotive in the extreme.

Yet we still buy Triumphs. I'm looking to do so.

Its not the fact that people are against the country (Jampan / Italy / Germany (and now the Poms) - we all have to move forward - but some items - the helmet you are talking about can be seen as disrespectful. So were one if you like, but understand that you are going to upset some people.

I did that to a guy riding a Harley at night in Wellington some years back. Had a German army style helmet on that didn't meet the standards and excessively loud exhausts. Wasn't a gang member so let him go.... he had a good attitude.

By all means get a novelty helmet, but just be aware that it's not going to give you the same level of protection.
Or you could get yourself a Viking's Helmet, but see if you can get one with the horns on the inside it would have the same level of protection I'm sure.

I wonder how long before some nutter makes them DOT-legal. Gotta be a huge market there.

    Disagree with you there.
People are too stupid to make decisions such as this.
Boundaries are setup to stop the morons killing themselves and us.
Rephrase the question like this, should there be a law dictating how big an SUV can be? How bright and how many headlights a car can have?
    Engine size for learner motorcyclist?

    (I fixed your spelling )

Never a truer word has been said. Its a sad fact that some people have to be saved from themselves.

If there were more people with common sense then (often - but not always) the powers that be wouldn't have to make laws to stop the 1-2% of idiots that ruin it for the rest if us.

A slight over reaction there I think ! My point is just that the guy is only asking where he can buy a certain type of helmet, not for a lecture. I'm sure he knows the pros and cons of his choice, just like everyone else. To compare someone's decision to wear that type of helmet to the decision to rape someone, is just silly. Most of the opinion on this thread seems fairly sensible and good natured, why not keep it that way?

Why would you want to wear a german helmet? They LOST the war....LOST I TELL YOU. Why not go for a turban with that extra padding?

because the Germans had the coolest uniforms.... The italians were too flashy - the yanks - well you just wouldn't really, the russians (the badest mofos in the friggin war) and the poms were too dour and cheap to make cool uniforms and the japanese were only in really small sizes... Nope! If you wanna look bad (and frankly a darling of the gayer sex) - Nazi regalia is it!
