I hope to have the new bike run in by then and make this my first serious outing
I hope to have the new bike run in by then and make this my first serious outing
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.
Other accomodation options:
As for the rest 3 dogs that have signed up for this ride in the calendar: Triboy has found out the Raglan harbour hotel is all booked out, I've stayed long time ago at the wagons at Manu bay, they're now called Solscape, wicked place to stay but 5 min away from the township, we could either ride there and not drink much, or get a shared cab both ways...
There's also the alternative of the Raglan backpackers they have obviously dorms but also shared room and twin rooms, they're in the heart of the township.... any ideas anyone else?
later,
(shite, had not noticed your latest update on accomodation when I wrote this triboy)
Windboy.
Heh Buddy sorry to read of your front wheel problems.
What is the latest on this ride, what accomodation do I need to book (our work Xmas function was very nearly that weekend but I managed to change it to mid November - not that any one knows why!!)
The KTM is need of a good run.
Mike
Accomodation wise, just call the Awakino pub and pencil yourself in. (mention your on the motorcycle Adv ride.
Sat night at the Sunset,in Raglan. We have different room options that I will finalise about 3 weeks out from the ride.
If we can get numbers up to about 12+, it will make for another enjoyable weekend.
Hopefully some Welly boys/girls will travel up, as I have a "special" route plan for them. (I will travel down to National Park, and escort them through some excellent back gravel roads).![]()
A few more teaser photos.
I cant cope if there are no white lines down the middle of the road![]()
They can be painted on your visor instead if that helps![]()
I wont be able to attend this ride now
I am pi**ed off about it to, because it looks like a good ride, I have to go to Whangarei instead![]()
Dusty Butt 1000km - We knocked the bugger off what next?
Bummer man, sorry to hear... How about the South island passes one? Were you keen at all for that one?
later,
Windboy.
Okay gentlemen, I have checked out the Sat night accom at Raglan, and after throwing a few options around with Janette, (the Sunset Motel Manager), This is what I have secured. www.ourbeachhouse.co.nz
Really roughing it I know, but somehow we will survive
Its about 5km out of down town Raglan, we have a courtesy bus available, (as does the pub), so drink driving is eliminated.
I have been informed that the Raglan Club does huge feeds in the evening at reasonable prices, and Aqua Velvet Cafe is the go for Brekky.
Numbers are limited to a max of 16,(the house has self contained apartments below).
Sat accom costs will be $65 approx (possibly less if 8+ riders front up).
People will need to register on the calender by Sat 10 Nov, so final details can be sorted. I really hope some Welly crew can make it, and if the weather is half decent it should be a great weekend.
Upper Wainui Rd is the house location on their web site. Not the Bach.
The bikes have safe parking, and the views at sunset should be pretty good. Geez I spoil you buggars.
That sounds magic.
Do my damndest to be there
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.
Call me thick, call me stupid (no I haven't bought a BMW ha ha ha) but where is the calendar thread?
I will be on this ride.
I have booked in at the Awakino on the Friday night, do I need to book in at the "beach house" or Triboy is this enough?
Click on the Calender button at the top of the page, then select 30 nov on the month calender. You will be able to register for the ride under the ride info.
No need to call the Sunset Motel any more guys.Just make sure your on the calender reg, so final numbers can be known.

OK that's me signed up, booked with Awakino, lodged in the Calendar, now all I have to do is get back from OZ
(no I wasn't at the GP), get the bike back from it's minder and see if I can still ride. Wife and I have just completed a 15 month MotorHome trip round the big island.
Look forward to meeting you at Awakino.
Cheers
Ian
