Now it's happening the way it should, to me this is what Kiwibiker is about. Will be good to finally meet the Peach at least once. Just nice to know who we are talking to, especially since we live in the same town and are in to the same stuff.

So is Worseys road a go too, up Rapaki, along to Worsleys?

I've got time to do the loop of up Rapaki along to and down Worsleys (and up and down a couple of times). If you fullers want to venture further a field or not do Worsleys then feel free.

Yeah looking forward to hooking up.

Bike is all prep'd, checked and ready.

    - pamp's have small tanks so I can only do 110 km on a tank and have low top speeds (if you want to preserve them) so i'd be keen for some muddy technical loops and non gravel stuff etc maybe away from walkers etc

+ thanks for the map, it's gonna be a good day hopefully!

My first couple of photos are the same as Lugzys so the attached is the only different one. The small bit of vid I got is crap so not going to put on the web.

Good ride fullers - nice and technical through the middle sections to keep the brain working.

    Cheers

What huts are you thinking of? There used to be the number 1 hut at Lake Taylor and the number 2 hut near the top of Lake Sumner, but they both got burnt down a few years ago now. There's the Hurunui hut about 2 km west of where the number 2 used to be, and you could ride to it, but as TA said that wouldn't be the thing to do since it's on a walking only track.

No signs at either end when I was last on it about 3 years ago.

Basically you can legaly ride the Chch side but I dont think you would be very popular ... I wouldn't recommend riding it (even though we can) as there are better places to get you kicks.

It was probably all you "old fullers" ripping it up that forced the Lyttleton Side change in the first place
No signs on their recently. I just rode it very quietly so as not to upset anyone, but still got a few dirty looks.

Me too, it used to be fun.

Me too, one of my ancestors arrived on one of the first four ships - I can't remember which ship though, I've got it written down somewhere.

Yep, the track used to be really rough and there was hardly ever any walkers on it. It's all flash now - nice and smooth and wide, which is why I took it nice and easy last time. It was more of a nostalgia ride than a challange, in fact I was disappointed at what they've done to it. It used to be fun ripping up there on the TS185. There's a few other places around town that a group of us used to ride too, but now they're all full of houses.

Yep, thanks guys, good to meet the mysterious peachvw, look foward to catching up again at school next Sunday.
Worsleys was very dry today so traction was a lot better than it had been last time I was up there, that'd be on the DR250 Djebel when I had it. There were however a lot of other users up there on foot and treadly to be careful of and try not to stir up too much.
I met the guys about 1/3rd the way up from the bottom gate as they were coming down. Then we went down to my van, back up to the top, back down to my van where cooneyr headed off. Back up the top again where Lugzy and Peach headed off, then I went back down and went home for lunch myself.
Had my only fall within the first 4 minutes, then survived the rest of the morning unscathed, was most happy to have taken the little bike instead of the bigin.
I can forsee myself doing a few more trips up there in the near future, such a good awkward hill to practice on.

Were you able to go up the Rapaki?Has been off limits with lambing since July.

Chatted with Head Ranger at the Rapaki couple of months ago .As you guys have said both Bridle Path & Rapaki are paper roads and we are able to use them no problem.I use the Rapaki as a short cut buzz up to the Summit Rd every week when Its open and love the new bike sized cattle stops so I dont have to stop & open the gates

Only go up the Bridle Path occassionally.Usually during the week. The Bemmer chugging up the track gets a few looks.I grin widely and have always got smiles back - so far!!

Hope I get to ride with you guys sometime
