Every lightweight motorcycle ever made has an inbuilt safety feature like this from the factory.... At the end of the day - who cares how fast it really goes - these bikes are all about the dream and the excitement of future possibilities... If the speedo says it's doing 100 you were doing at least 150 to your mates.... enjoy it....

Don't worry about it mate. You get used to it. On my FXR I usually did 60 to 65 in a 50 zone and 115ish in a 100 zone. Just guage your speed to the other vehicles on the road

The Tawa ones display your speed?

I thought they only ever said SLOW NOW.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Another vote for a Speedohealer here. Fitted one to my bike a couple of months ago after changing the gearing - 10 minute job. Checked it with a borrowed GPS and it's now spot on.

Our (UK) side of the road 'slow down you're doing...' signs always read inaccurately. There's one near us that states I'm doing 34mph when my calibrated speedo shows 30mph. Just trying to get you to travel even slower than you're permitted to
What a difference indifference can make

Those little speed trailers aren't a police thing, they are ACC I think and lent out to "concerned citizen" groups etc. They don't make money so 10 cents to guess how much is spent on their maintainence.

In my experience if there are 2 vehicles both doing say, 65 in a 50. The cops won't pass the back one to get the front one, you must have gone faster than them to catch them and it's also more work/risk to give someone a ticket for the exact same thing. Even if they have them on the radar they can safely assume your speed was the same if you were doing the same speed. Go to the front of the line of cars and unless your doing something spectacular to make it way more worthwhile nabbing you they'll get the one on the end.

    Thumbs up SpeedoHealer

    I see there's a new SpeedoHealer, version 4.0.
I'm going to try importing one of these, if the price is reasonable.
    None on Trademe ATM.

hmm interesting. My vl250 runs about 10% higher than the rf already... makes me a little nervous just thinking that the rf might be high too..
Off to find a gps I think.
I wouldn’t be broke if the voices in my head paid rent
