    Buckets and more

What a cool sunday! woke up to the sound of the phone ringing... celticno6 asking if i'm coming over... look at the clock...shit! i was meant to be on the road!.. got outta bed and played with my daughter for 15mins before heading off.
Up paekak hill.. 3 cars the whole way up! was brilliant. perfect weather, perfect road! got over the otherside in time to see some triumphs on a ride (behind me until haywards) and some kind of run going the other way. even H-D riders waved musta looked like a weirdo nodding to about 20-odd bikes going the other way.
got over to U-H and realised I had forgotten the map i made, but at least the call from celticno6 mentioned the army so I had a rough idea of where to go.
rolled up at the buckets and got a huge wave...Eddieb and his mighty 125.
parked up and had a yak. then up rolled f5 Dave on his new/old beast... what a nice bike, the photos dont do it justice!
Then up rocks celticno6 and Tim... we all stand around yakking like old mates
Marknz rocked up and we looked over the bike...NICE... would love a new bike one day.
watched a bit of the practices then F5 says "grab ya helmet, I've got you a ride"
    WOW what a buzz.
I got to ride a bucket!
after a coupla slow laps (what front brakes? oh..there they are, breaking my fingers) I chucked my gear to celtic for a lap or 3... shoulda seen him get into my gear...
was a buzz.. cheers F5 Dave!
headed to simons house for a coffee and a squizz at his wheels glad i wasnt on it when the forks went like that!
headed back to the track and it was Eddies race... out came the camera (sorry bout the crap photos) he was doin well and next time i go i'll take him up on the offer of a ride on HIS bucket
f5 was leaving about now so i followed him to pick up the boots he kindly gave me. cheers again
then i headed home over paekak hill.. got to the top in time to see another bike leave so i was all by myself for about 1 minute.... up rocked a gsx250 then a TL1000 (hi motoxxx) then a monster dark, then a vtr1000, then a bmw (but he didnt even speak to us. typical) and then a lotus replica
so there we were, all shooting the breeze on the top of the hill for about 25 minutes..
    then i went home..

Glad you & C06 enjoyed yourselves

I'd like to point out that the bucket of Doom Bayden loaned you is not representative of most of the buckets which are a bit better presented (& braked) & not near so ugly.

    Good luck securing a bucket.

Good stuff guys. I've just got a CB125T for racing down here, its got a bit of work required but should have it done in a month or so. Might be able to get to a wellington meeting sometime in the summer holidays hopefully.

Cool, I'll be letting Tony Mc etc know when the guys here have finalised some dates. If you hear of another Blenheim meeting then make the effort to get there, lots of the Chch guys do & its a great track.

Well, it's been 36 hours now of pleading and begging but Gini will still not give the go-ahead for a bucket purchase...

How are you getting on with her indoors Blakamin?

Cheers Baden for the ride. My most enjoyable ride of the weekend.

And although it was a bit of a struggle I must say that I did manage to get into Blakamin's gear to ride it - no mean feat as he has absolutely no butt to speak of and me, well lets just say I'm nicely rounded.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

    Hahaha,

I rolled up to watch the buckets from the far side of the track. with Lisa in the car I said "that looks fun, I'm keen on giving that a go" and a couple of minutes later said "there's room in the garage for one of those". The best bit is when I said I'd need a trailer to put it on, she said, "you could just hire one".

How close is that to "Why don't you buy a bucket"?

Can someone explain bucket racing? I have heard it mentioned all over the place but I can find specifics on the rules?

i get the impression it can be done on the cheap?

I was there! I didn't see you Celtic, and I didn't notice anyone. I was the kid with the Che Guevara tshirt and the girl and brother hanging around him. We were over by the shade thing most of the time.

Oh yeah, about how much could i pick up a nice 4stroke bucket for? The guy in the Blue/white leathers that won all the bucket races was awesome! He got his knee down every corner. Even when facing an Aprilia he still won!

    Inspiring stuff

Kinda thought that might have been you with the T-shirt but figured probably just a coincidence.
The young chap winning the races is Jay & the bike is a 2 stroke 50cc, he is my main competition these days, though the real owner of the Aprillia is hot as well when in good health.

BungBung. Bee-uaty, find something & turn on up, speak to Bayden if you want to know when the next races are.
