Prime TV and the New Zealand Herald had items, so someone is letting them know at least.
But I have to say, I've been involved in a few sports and there is always somebody complaining about the lack of information. Its quite simple though, those sports with a media officer or even just a family member or the athlete themselves who provide a brief do get the coverage on the news, so I really don't think that those that don't can complain.
Like I said before, Josh Coppins gets coverage every week through out his season, so obviously Josh has someone on it. If Katherine does not have someone providing any information, who do you think is going to do it? MX is not the only sport out there not being covered, how much do you hear about MTB?
That organisation was the worse in providing information for media when I was involved and they were always complaining. They were trying to turn MTB into a spectator sport WTF? They ruined the essence of MTB by making the races multi lap roundy roundy races trying to attract spectators. Who cares? No one. How much do you hear about MTB? Virtually nothing. They never ever sent any news items to the media thinking that it was just going to happen automatically. And kept on complaining.
Do you think the NZ rowing does not have a media officer or a publisist? Or Scott Dixion? Or the Rugby Union? Off course they do, and they get the coverage, the exposure, and get so popular that they get the news media contacting the sports bodies for info. But it doesn't just happen for every sport that happens every weekend.
Katherine on the other side of the World in an MX race is not big news. There are probably hundreds of Kiwi's competing through out the World each week. How much exposure they get is in their own hands, and is what attracts sponsors.
I bet when Katherine gets back to NZ she will be in touch with Murray Deaker and she will probably feature on his radio program and on his TV show, just like last year. Its just a shame if the effort isn't put in at the time of the event by someone in Katherines team. What does MNZ do for your money? Why does Kawasaki NZ pass up a golden opportunity to get exposure?
What about the Pukekohe Motorcycle Club? Did they provide a story by any chance?
If you read the NZ Herald or watched Prime News you would have seen coverage. Radio Sport gives Motor Sport extensive coverage and I was very surprised not to have heard anything, but again, I wasn't listening for a big part of the day yesterday, so they may have. So if you don't watch listen or read, how else are you going to hear anything?
Would have to agree, but still think it sucks, all one wanted to hear the following morning was Katherine had successfully defended her world N#1 title
    no big write up.

yes kawasaki did press releases, thats why thier is news coverage their is, it was a bit late for my liking thats why i rang the rock adn told them ,as they normally do motocross news.
MNZ press coverage needs work seriously, but it is better than it used to be.

as for the Pukekohe motorcycle club, i did something for the local papers and thats it, i left the national stuff to Kawasaki and MNZ,

as for Josh, he has some supporters here and they got the ball roling but alot of the sutff comes from rueters as it is the woprld championship, notice thier is never any footage of BT on the news, thats becasue the ama does not distrubute the video out of the states, but youthstream (the gp's promotor) does, so we get footage of Josh, they did not put the womans results on, or video of them so no tv coverage of Katherine
Did hear Simon Doul say later in the morning sports news that someone had rang The Rock about Katherine and he was going to look into it.
