Ducati Desmosedici RR going to be tested by the Poms shortly http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Ne...ridecountdown/

I suppose it would be slightly faster than the VFR but probably not as comfy.

Well it only has 90hp more and I'm not sure if it has a sexy rear seat option, and how would it look with a Ventura rack and bag on it?

It is very red though which is one of my colours - hey I could be tempted, if they are talking 41,000 quid or 65,000 US does that mean only about 100,000 NZ? Could be a bargain. How much of the good bits will be missing? The carbon brakes for sure and what else?

The only problem is that to be offered the opportunity to buy one you must have already bought the top of the line 1098. You can't just 'phone 'em up with a large wad o'cash and order it.

And from what I've read it's more of a race replica than any other manufacturers offer these days. Some GP components will be horrifically expensive and only expected to last a race weekend - parts like that will have been replaced with slightly heavier, slightly lower performance but longer lasting components to do the same job.

what do Honda call their V5 GP replica when they sell it?

Dunno, is that a trick question? Expensive will be one word though.

It'd have to be a fair bit removed from the actual MotoGP bike because I thought they were only allowed to race 'prototypes' in the MotoGP, not bikes available to the public like Superbikes.

This is now a replica of a bike they are not using so I guess its OK to develop them that way around - MotoGP first and then road version while the race version has moved on.

So this is a 1000, not a 800? Should be interesting to see what a MotoGP bike that's been strengthed for road use develops in power and how far off it is from your standard superbikes. It'll go to show how distant or close the technology going into them is from the top race bikes.

MX bikes are only meant to be about 3 years behind in technology to the factory racers aren't they?

OK Chrissie you going to order two then, one for you and one for me? Or does LB want two for her and Hamish?

Coyote this is the earlier 990 version and it said in the article 190hp whereas on MotoGP I think they were probably 240+ so they have a bit more longevity in mind as they would need to for the road. For a Honda guy aren't you impressed I showed interest? Its the V4 that did it you know.

190hp, at the crank? Modern 1000s are meant to have about 185hp

I'm not really a honda guy, it was a toss up between a VFR or FZR and the V4 engine is what swayed me
