had a rgv 150 as my second bike, most fun bike dollar for dollar i have owned!nicked named the BMX due too its spoke wheels. wheellies off the throttle in first gear.
My opinion comparing the fxr to the rgv, well have ridden both and looks go to the fxr,but for fun and excelleration the rgv takes it,my choice would be the rgv.even managed to get an indicated 160kmph out of it!!!!!

This is an old thread and probably nobody cares any more but...

I've had my RGV150 for about 6-7 weeks and my sister got an FXR150 yesterday.

I took the FXR for a ride and it was really easy and smooth to ride in comparison. When I first got the RGV, it took me a little while to get used to pulling away without stalling, but the FXR is easy right from the beginning. I got used to the RGV quickly enough though and it's been fun learning.

I have to admit the electric start on the FXR is nice to have - just hop on and go. I can imagine my sister's evil cackle when we go riding together in future and I have to kick start...

I guess the real difference is in the riding style. FXR has engine braking (when you gear down) and the bike is happy just plodding along, RGV's engine braking is almost non-existent and it needs to be ridden hard sometimes to keep it happy.

I still like my RGV though, after riding the FXR. Maybe because I'm used to it, it's mine, I enjoy the smoke and the thrill of the powerband and there is one thing better about it at least - the seat's more comfortable

So, in conclusion, if I try not to be biased: I guess the FXR would be a better choice for daily commuting. But I don't regret buying the RGV, it's a fun bike and will last me till I get my full license and look for something bigger/better.

And we'll see how they compare when we go riding together...

I own a rgv150, rated at about 26hp whereas the fxr is rated at 20hp. The rg 150 is rated at about 36hp. I have not owned the bike long but am considering upgrading to a 250 already, the rgv is nippy round town and keeps up on the open road but is very light and tyres are ridiculously thin. A mate owns an fxr and they seem like nice bikes but he recently blew the engine, partly due to thrashing it i believe which i guess is what happens when you you only have 20hp to play with. I think a 250 would be a better start for anyone

My first bike was an FXR150 and it was brilliant round town but too slow on the open road. I believe it is a great learners bike.
