To get this incident put into the 'storm in a tea-cup' catagory would be require a considerable elevation of its true value.....

Support your local drug dealer, receiver, burglar, etc then and say nothing...

Would have been a $630 instant fine and immediate loss of licence for 28 days...

You would be surprised at just what people will give up just to save their own arse.

As for ramming him off the road? Dumbarse!! Needs to think about how a manslaughter charge (or murder) would stick on his arse if it all went wrong (and ramming a motorbike off a road would go all wrong).

How was it dishonest? It was lowered and he didn't get any info for it. Yep, lowering it... the lying good for nothing dishonest bastard.

All four or five of them in the last 20 years... good one linux... haven't heard that one before...

Cover up? They have been charged and most are inside already. Those that aren't inside ... yet... time will tell. No one wants to work with them...

    Pardon me but...

Have I got this right? Somebody is complaining about getting their ticket lowered?

Did said copper wink and lip his lips when he said this? Honestly, I dunno why he's complaining. We're all bitching about the fuzz not being able to use discretion, well this one did. Good for him for showing some initiative to try and catch the "real criminals".

Quite frankly I'm pissed with the cop for not stinging him for as much as he should have.

Thank the gods dad of two (DOT) didn't meet another DOT coming the other way leaving one or both families as two of none...

Don't give a shit how good DOT is or isn't, there are other morons on the road, and traffic can change in the blink of an eye.

Tell DOT to slow the fuck down and shut the hell up, then count his goddam blessings.

I beg to differ - I have been known in the past to stand up in court as a witness to a crime - I wasn't being charged with anything either so in effect I was a 'Nark' without doing it to save my own arse.

I wonder what that makes me?

If everyone reported every crime they witnessed and testified you'd be amazed how nice New Zealand could become!

Well I topped out an '07 fatboy at just below 160k indicated. Thats probably around 147k, no defense there.

That fatboy was just a tad quicker than my 105e Anglia. although the Anglia would roll less in the corners

Sounds more like Fairy Tale Land than New Zealand. People stopped reporting crime because the Police stopped investigating it - they have different priorities these days. Why should we be expected to live in our houses without touching anything for 3 days after a burglary on the off chance the cops will actually turn up, after they're called?
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!

or maybe if the community helped out to catch said burglar that was more than likely working over an area it would dramaticly reduce the offence rate and the "3 day wait" and i assume you are talking about auckland here.

As for the ticket saga i dont beleive it, i reckon cops these days are to busy covering their own arse from the political nightmare that consumes the now PC police organisation which in turn is choking the life out of the average coppers ability to get the job done due to cry babies who feel hard done by when they offend, its not like people dont know whats coming to them when they do whatever it is their doing at the time.

people should just harden up, do what they oughta and get on with it.

    I'm still confused

    By a Harley going 147km/h.
The cop should have given him an award for having the nuts to wring the neck off the softtail and being able to approach that kind of speed.

DOT should have known better. Empty road, early morning, of course the only other vehicle on the road is a policeman(person).
He should have known the only time to speed safely is when there is other traffic so the radar cannot get a clear tone and lock on to you.

More to the point, why the hurry to get to work when he had an empty road and a bike between his thighs?

Sounds like The Godfather in uniform to me.
"I am happy to do this thing for you...but the day might come that I ask you to do me favour in return"
It all sounds perfectly reasonable to me...if your partner was uncomfortable about it he should have refused to accept the lesser ticket and then reoprted the cop.
Personally, being a man of low moral standards, I would have done what he did.
