Don't give a shit how good DOT is or isn't, there are other morons on the road, and traffic can change in the blink of an eye.

Tell DOT to slow the fuck down and shut the hell up, then count his goddam blessings.
Why is 147 dangerous? ok its faster than the allowed limit, but traffic goes faster than that all the time on the MW over here without problem.....

If the limit was 150 would you day the same thing or are you too accustomed to the 100 is safe 101 is murderous drivel that the govt spouts at us?

Ive never had any problems with the police. When I've been handed a ticket I've definately deserved it. Been let off with a warning a few times. Have always been treated courteously and have treated them the same and have never bothered with excuses (they've heard them all you know and it makes no difference) If caught speeding etc just be an adult and accept that you were caught breaking the law by one whose job it is to enforce those laws. If you find the laws unjust become a politician and push for change. Otherwise just be glad that the fine was reduced to 130 and pay up.
    Rant over.
    Andy.

That is part of the problem. Some people believe what the gubbinment forces you to constantly hear.

Also, pointing out simple facts like drivers from other countries actually KNOW how to drive, and do so sensibly, will fall on deaf NZ gubbinment ears.

You're not allowed to "take the law into your own hands" - the criminals have more rights than victims. Besides, that's not the job I'm paid to do - that's one of the reasons why we pay taxes. Yes - I'm talking about Auckland but I don't expect it's much different anywhere elses. Luke Donnelly and Paul McIntyre certainly didn't have great experiences of Police response to complaints and they weren't in Auckland.

You're a funny guy. You think the politicians don't know people aren't happy with the current Police performance or any number of other things? Any time spent lobbying those self-serving bastards is time wasted.
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!

Yeah right ! - Thats why when someone comes rapes your wife you simply say - "Well no point calling the pigs is there".

A few bad apples does not ruin the entire police force. But this is typical small minded, hop on a pathetic bandwagon thinking. The vast majority of police are there because they want to help the community and put up with more crap in a week from people than most of us will get in a lifetime in our jobs.

The cop used his initative and dropped the fine to the 130 limit probally because it was a clear road etc. I would believe that the rest is simply bullshit by your mate to make a "better" story.

He broke the law - got caught and got cut some slack - he should be thanking the guy not moaning his ass off.

I wonder what that makes me?

If everyone reported every crime they witnessed and testified you'd be amazed how nice New Zealand could become!
A decent sort... one of those who might not even get a ticket perhaps... As Skyrider siad, "Someone doing the right thing..." is what you are.

Its not... that is why it is still an instant fine... (unless in a 50 k zone past a school...) As for 101 being dangerous, I must have miised that call at my Snaking 101 course...

1, no you're not, but you are allowed to restrain a burglar til the cops arrive, not beat the living shit out of him (although thatis what they actually deserve... sigh...)

    2. Different down here. Its the home owners who put it off usually coz they are going fishing, whitebaiting, work, whatever...

    3. Luke and Paul?

    4. Still in the top 10 professions of customer satisfaction, but you can't please everyone... and who knows what can be achieved if someone actually talked to those self serving bastards... not many actually have talked to them (and for good reason... who would want to? But having to is different...).

Other 'threads' plural. It's the answer to all cop bashing threads, don't you know?

Actually, I don't even LIKE guns. They're always falling into the wrong hands.....

Couldn't agree more. I'm more inclined to take it on the chin and get off the gas when I'm cut some slack, but it hasn't happened for a few years. The last time it did I was exceeding 80kph on the Akd Hrbr bridge approaches. When the ticket was handed to me for a damn sight less than I'd done I actually thanked the guy for his leniency. I didn't moan about that one and rode home without any more speeding. Positive policing in action.

A and B roads are not better if not worse than allot of New Zealand roads, and the Motorways are not that different to New Zealand roads.

New Zealand also like heavily policing our good roads for speed...... Hamilton Expressway when it opened had two speed traps on it.....

I too have always found it a little curious how the roads that are actually better and safer too 'speed' on get hammered. Like the speed camera van in the middle of the passing lane south of Maramarua on Friday.

I know plenty of idiots die along there but I find it difficult to blame the road... which leaves only bad driver. I have no problem with that section of road - there are no off camber or tightening bends and there's good visibility when there's no fog.
