    Custom can?

Some of you may remember recently I was looking for an aftermarket can for my RF900. Some of you may also remember I was quoted a mean as price & I was asked to post up once I had gone ahead with it.

Well.............I just got my bike back yesterday after dropping it off on Tuesday. The guy has been building exhausts for race bikes & side cars since Adam was a boy & know's his stuff. I requested a can that didn't sacrifice low/mid range for top end power as the top end was more than enough but was more looking for a throatie rumble more than anything else.

Well, that's exactly what I got!

    The price you ask?

I did a lot of home work on it prior (as per ) & it seemed I was looking at anything from $500 to $2200 for a can, plus fitting plus possibly needing to re jet the carbs (about $250/$300) so an all up minimum of $750.

TAP motorcycle wreckers (6Km's south of Stratford In Taranaki) charged me $350 all up fitted & guaranteed that I wouldn't require rejetting

Ive ripped around all day yesterday & can honestly say im absolutely stoked with it, its exactly what I requested! A deep throatie rumble that's not obnoxiously loud & pisses the neighbours off but is enough to let the cagers know you are around

If anyone would like the same excellent service/product ive received then drop him a line.

His name is "Fly". Yes its actually his real name (his parents were hippies lol)

He said yesterday he has a new workshop opening in central New Plymouth very shortly also

To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. Thumbs up

All you need to do now is make one of those YouTube vids where all you do is start it up, walk around it and blip it a few times.

That is a bloody good price, Boob!

Personally, I'd agree with imdying and saw a few inches off the outlet. Then it'll be purty, as well as nice-sounding.

You sound rapt with your new acquisition, so I'm happy for you too.

YThanks for that CAD, yeah stoked mate, it's exactly what I asked for, and sure is a good price alright. Not sure what the fuss is about the outlet, I don't mind it at all?

Each to their own I guess

The beauty of a custom built can is you can request exactly what you want

Sorry man, I didn't mean to offend you.

I had a prospective client a couple of years ago who wanted me to design a complete exhaust system for his Guzzi. He had a clear vision of what it needed to look like, sound like, work like etc. It would've been a complex piece of kit, featuring solenoid-driven chokes in the cans to reduce the noise in town but open them wide on rural roads (and scare the living shit out of sheep, magpies, alpacas and cyclists). His idea had merit but would've been a bitch to manufacture. I warned him that the added complexity was directly proportional to added cost, but he wanted me to quote him to design, manufacture and supply the system. I dropped off the quote a few days later, and I could've sworn I could still hear him screaming and cursing me when I was four blocks down the road. Needless to say, he still has the standard pipes on his twin.

    lol hard case alight

No offence taken mate, taste is subjective.

My only requirements for the can were total price, a deep throatie rumble (without being obnoxious) & not to take away low to mid range power at all. I requested polished stainless but he reckoned aluminium was the best for the perfect sound, so went with that. I didn't have anything in particular requested for the tail section, but I don't mind it at all, each to their own I guess

I reckon for $350 I got the deal of the century

Just a wee bump for those that may have missed this thread.

If you want a custom can built & fitted for an amazingly low price I can confirm the quality

If you don't like the look of mine that's ok, you can request what material you would prefer. Fly's number is in the first post & remember, a loud bike is a safe bike
