[QUOTE=pete376403;1190768]ME and a few mates (KTM950, Dakar 650, DR650) did a wee run - Friday 0800at Caltex Rimutaka. Ekatahuna for coffee, Mangimaire to saddle of Pahiatua track, then the gravel road along the wind farm to just before the Manawatu Gorge. Then to Marton via Fielding for gas and lunch. Next up the turakina valley (mostly gravel) to Tangiwai, Waiouru, and Taupo for the night. (hot pools at the deBretts, ahhhhhhh)

Hi Peter, The first day of that trip sounds very similar to the ride I did on Friday, unfortunatly due to a couple of reasons my second day didn't go quite to that plan and the sunday ride is missing completely from my memory. Glad the rest of your ride went well.

seems like the forgotten world highway got a work out this weekend.

Left Hamilton towards te awamutu via pirongia.
south to otorohonga, west to awakino, then new plymouth.
Kept heading west around the surf highway. The wife on the back was complaining about high winds, but I didn't really notice do xxx kph
turn left at hawera, and headed to stratford.
Full up with gas, and head east
stop at Whangamomona pub for coffee (you can't go through this road and NOT stop )
followed the highway ... stopped and chatted with someone on a beemer adventure going the other way on the gravel section.
    Turned right towards Taumaranui.
Gas up, and let the blood back into my arms after the forgotten world highway.
North up to otorohonga, then back up through pirongia to whatawhata .. home
    680kms loop in a day ... whew!

Not deliberately ignoring your presence, just thought you might like to make the announcement of what happened rather than me telling the world...
You will notice I left out Bruce's incident as well.

When will you have information on what happened, and more importantly whats going to be done about it?
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Only you & Scumdog can say that I guess
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded

I hope I didn't offend you at all it was only meant as a light hearted comment about me only completing one day of the ride. I rang Motorad on Monday morning, and they got in contact with Kawasaki NZ, and the bike is now at dealer up that way, and they will probably be having a look at it tomorrow, and I'll know more details, i'll probably post up a thread about it then.
