Unhappy My first and I hope to dear God my last fall.

My first and I hope to dear God my last fall.

Started out on Mavericks ride Sunday 5th August 2007. We had about 40 + riders and we were all reving to go. I was doing allright when we took off, it started to rain which was a bit shitty but I managed to hold my own fine.

I handled the hard corners with care and made sure I could handle the corners fine.

Allright fast forward to the crash:

I was approaching the corner at about 60, and reduced to about 50-55 and took the corner. I thought I was going fine and next minute my rear wheel went under me. I was in shock, I fell down, my face hit the road and my visor was scraped hard, my hands were scraped, my jacket ripped and my normal jeans was ripped on the right knee… I knew I should of got them bike pants.

I just cant believe what happened, my kb mates behind me, donor and another rider on a yellow Hyosung, both said I was riding well and they saw the rear wheel go under me.

I would like to thank all the Kb riders who have helped me today, and I am forever indebited to you guys.

And special thanks to donor for looking after me.

    Damage:

    Bike:
    Broken mirrors
    Bent handle bars
    Exhaust maybe
    Tank (dented)
    Pegs: bent
    Speedometer- broken
    Headlight- bent down

    Bike Gear:Written of-

    Helmet – 300
    Jacket – 300
    Jeans- 50
    Gloves – 100
    Boots – 100
(If anyone knows any good bike shops/ discounts that could help me out I would love to hear, I am sure we have some fellow kb riders who own gear shops, would love to see if anyone can help me out)

    Human:
    Bruised Knee
    Bruised left wrist
    Bruised ego + pride

I hope like the kb riders have said, this is experience and they said to learn from and make sure other people don’t make the same mistake

    So what has Sean learnt????

Make sure you have really good tyres (I had new tyres but yeah just make sure)
Make sure if they corner says 65 you slow down to 30 …. Especially when its wet.
Make sure you have full gear even if it costs more
Make sure you pray before you leave
Make sure you have Full insurance + contents insurance

Big Thank you for the learning experience and protection.

    Thank you guys,

    Big Red

Add me if you wanna ride with me in west aucks.

Happy to help Sean, yer a top guy and up til 'that' moment, you were riding a damn fine ride.

Once we have you back in the saddle, we'll have you back out there conquering that corner.

Most importantly, you have survived to tell about it, and most importantly learn from it.

Just a couple of bruises? That's all that matters, dude. And sometimes it just happens. Riding out a slide is a racetrack fantasy that doesn't always eventuate on the road.

At least you didn't button off and highside...

So, well done on avoiding any real injury.

    What tyres were you running?

Motomail outlet store in western springs can have some pretty good cheap gear. Gutted about the ride mate, I was the one who was at Donor's house before you guys arrived. The poor bike had half of the country's landscape on it!

Good to see that you're taking it as a learning curve, which means you're not giving it up! A lot of us have been there, you saw the marks on my bike , just gotta get back up and get rollin' !

You'll be fine for summer, and that's what matters!

Also, glad Mum and Dad seemed to understand it was one of those things.

Always helps to have at least one parental unit that has had previous experience on two wheels of joy!

Too right. Evasive manourves on that section weren't much of an option. There were some ultra slippery patches on the way down down the hill after the rain had stopped.

Glad to hear you're ok BigRed. Better the bike munted than you eh!

It's totally pot-luck whether you find anything that fits at the motomail outlet store but it's worth a shot. Colemans have some cheap gloves at the moment too.

It was the best wet weather riding I've done all year but it wasn't for the faint hearted. Certainly upped my confidence in my tyres in the wet. Avon's.

Smooth smooth smooth was in order today - not to mention constant road condition (shit/moss/puddle/pothole) scanning.

Ahh yeah, I hadn't seen a hyobag in that colour in person before, only the red ones.. I have to say it looks bloody good, nice leathers too.

    Bastard

At the end of the day I have to say the winner was that pack that instantly froze itself. That was just awesome.
