having owned 2 KX500's and raced them to some sucess, they are the meanist beast ever, a new 450F does not have the grunt of the 500 2t, however they are faster in nearly every circumstance that involves a corner,

the last 500 i s had was an 02 KX500, i got it just as the CRF450's came out, i took it to ardmore and had just finished practice, i was lying on sitting on the back of my ute when a guy came up to me and asked if i rode this thing, he asked what year it was as it looked like a early 90's bike (the kx500 never did change mauch form 1989) he could not beleive how fast it was, and was very pissed off with his local honda dealer who had sold him on teh fact that the CRF450 was the fastest mx bike you could by at the time, and then this thing that looked 10 years old had just out accelerated him off a jump like he was bolted to the ground, dam motorcycle saleman will do anything to sell you a bike aye

the thing was a handlfull to ride, it did not like stopping or turning, but with the right soil and a bit of traction, i could ride it pretty dam quick for about 10 minutes,
