    Smile Gb 250/CBX250rs fans...

    Hello all.

I was wondering if there are any peeps out there riding

Gb250 or cbx250rs from the mid eighties?

Or if anyone has said bikes hiding in sheds etc?

I would like to find a motor to tear apart and sort out as a spare...

    hope your all thumping along!

    Grrrr.

    Rob.

    Hola,

I've got the predecessor, the venerable CB250RS. Pre-RFVC.

Which is your lump? DOHC or SOHC? I understand they made both. If it's the same as the GB250 lump then it'll be DOHC I suppose.

Also, there should be an appropriate XL/XR250 RFVC that is the same, bar probably a different camshaft and perhaps slightly less compression ratio.

I get most of my bits via Econohonda, ( http://www.econohonda.co.nz ), they specialise in that era, and especially early XLs and XRs.

What's up with your engine? Or are you pre-emptively collecting parts?

    Happy thumping indeed

I have got a 1986 GB 250, which I ride to UoA ( staff not student ) every day. I rebuilt the top end about 1 year ago, new rings etc, and she goes primo! Haven't got any spare engines though. Runs the DOHC engine as previous respondant said. I too get most of my bits from EconoHonda. I have had the bike 2 years now, and in that time I have only ever seen 1 other GB 250, and it was a real beat up banger - no stickers, matt spray-can half-repaint/touchup, different indicators one side to the other etc.

Hey Natalie, do you park you bike on Symond St outside Rec. Centre, and got a red tank? I see it every day and wondered who's it was.

Sorry - I just realise your bike is Natalie? not you!! Sorry man! Jeez, what a moron! I'll wake up soon, promise.
