    Hi all

I am sure that Nick would welcome seeing any of you be it at the hospital or when he reaches the Rehab Centre - as I said before he knows about you all and is a bit gob smacked by all the support
As BikeyCop has indicated, he is a bit of a walking miracle - and gets stronger each day

I am back in the UK unfortunately, but I speak to Nick twice a day for an hour or so (god help my phone bill!) and for the vast majority of the time is totally with me and is memory is improving in leaps and bounds - his eldest keeps testing him!

I can at last see a time when he can log on to this site for himself and post his own message to you all!

I will be coming back to NZ soon - exactly when depends on Nick and what he wants, he has promised me a BBQ in his garden!

in the meantime, all the very best to you all

    Kerry x

Good god woman, make sure they're marked "Special Delivery" or those chaps and chapesses at Customs may 'confiscate' them as illegal food products and 'dispose' of hem

Wow, that's great news to hear! What a testament to his strength of will and desire to get back on his own two feet and back to his loved ones!

Keep up the healing and plugging away at those little milestones on the way to recovery. Thanks for the update and keeping us informed.

Bloody excellent news all round. Well done Nick
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

    Minty,

I'm working tonight, so will try and call in and see him if I manage to get sent that way.

Bloody stoked to hear he's well and truly down the path of mending.

He has made a remarkable comeback given how only a month ago he was on death's door.

He is now up walking (with a crutch) around the ward for short periods and is likely to be discharged next week for a stint at a rehabilitation unit in Pt Chevalier before going home to recuperate.

He is hoping to be back at work some time early next year, even if it is just light duties for a while. He is chatting and laughing and has maintained his sense of humour. He has minor memory problems with some things but that is nothing compared to how far he has come.

I'm sure we will see him back on the road soon (although probably not on a bike).

    Tell him to harden up....
(can joke about these things now that the danger time has passed)
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Not really at this stage ... Nick doesn't even remember getting on the bike let alone what happened. Could have been a number of factors (wet road, gravel etc) but not sure if we will be able to say for sure either way. One of my colleagues is working on it.

lol poor guy has a partner, mother and sister on the job... what do you reckon his chances of sneaking off and getting on a bike after this adventure? They'll probably get him fitted with one of those home detention ankle bracelets

Popped in to see Nick this afternoon... errr, yesterday afternoon... (goddam night shifts screw you up!)

For what he's been through, he's looking pretty damn good - hoping like hell Middlemore will evict him sometime in the next day or so.

Managed to stay and chat for a bit, he seems like a top bloke.

He's well aware that the thread on KB is still going, and gets updates about our various comments and mutterings.

Look forward to seeing him out of hospital and buying him a beer sometime!
