I just brought an 05 CB900 Hornet. Its everything i wanted. Cheers DMNTD for getting me thinking about the Duke monster. I didnt have enough moey for the duke do i went for the Honda. I test rode heaps of bikes and found the hornet a great bike for a great price. Its awsome two up, suprisingly flickable in the corners and has a less thrash the shit out of me vibe than the 6rr had. Granted different bikes for different people and budgets but im stoked with this new purchase.

I was VERY concerned that i was shedding my sports bike love affair way to eary and getting a more middle aged persons bike too early. (no offence, but you know what i mean) Anyway, all my fears were unfounded and this bike is perfect for what i want to do. Its even kinda fun at legal speeds...(cant believe it).

Its realy put the fun in "just riding" for the enjoyment of it. I cant believe how well it handles for what it is. Only gripes are the windshield (removed on day one) looks like shet and she is pretty quiet.

    Project, yay

Just want to thank everyone for their input and just letting you all know my next bike purchase was a complete succsess thanks to some of your input and different angles.

Its bloody raining.....gutted, wanna go for a hoon

Great choice Harry! I'm in the same situation - need to slow down and get a bike that's more comfortable. Test rode a Hornet on Saturday and was fairly impressed, although it was brand new with 0kms on it so I couldn't fang it, but the potential was there. A couple of annoying things I found - shite mirrors, no clock, dodgy bars and a far too quiet exhaust. The suspension got a little bouncy, but I could live with the adjustments - certainly would slow me down. The one big thing that I liked was I enjoyed the 'trip' and not the race like I would normally do. Tried a VTR1000 after and sure it sounded sweet with the aftermarket cans but I instantly reverted back to the 'race' mentality and the brakes where the worse I've ever had to use. Just want to try an SV1000 nekid and an older FZ1 now to compare.
    Enjoy your ride.

    Cheers,

yeah the mirrors and bars are shite, they wont last long on the bike. the 2005 on have a clock. you have to push the mode button on the right hand side. The dealer tryed to tell me that they dont have a clock at cyclespot but they do.

I took a days leave from work just to ride all around the place and i am yet to speed. Im not a cockey punk who thinks hes rossi but i just found it hard to do that on the 6rr. Lovin the bike and would recomend to anyone, also went ont the nor westurn and at 100 the wind makes you feel like yr doing 150.

Anyway off to morrinsville via the tahuna rd.

given you will only be paying $11k or so for your hornet (buy a second hand one!... its a Honda so you should be fine) you will be able to spend money on bits to make it fit your riding better. The best money I spent on mine was suspension upgrade (Ohlins shock and new fork springs) followed by crash knobs and renthal bars.... everything else is fripperies. Do a search on KB for what people have done to theirs, theres some nicely customised ones about.
