I don't care if people profess to hate Harley's, they are confused, I like them, I just like the bike I have better, for what I want to do with it!

If I ever win "Lotto", (derr) I will build a big shed and fill it with 365 different bikes!

I think that might even be better than a harem with 365 different women in it!

At least I could still do justice to the bikes! But the women? ........ ........Jaded,.........John.

And the bikes would cause you less grief - even if they were all cast-iron Harleys!!

Displaying my age I know, but...

... when I was young and a Norton Commando or Yamaha RD250 (or yes please! a 350) were unaffordable and a Harley was just unattainable - "we" envied in a nice way people who had those bikes. These days it seems that if people have something "we" don't, a more common reaction is disparage their choice.

I'm sure it's taken most of the oldies here years-to-decades to get enough disposable income to get the bikes we wanted when we were teens; but the riders I know agree that if some people don't like what we ride, and wish to disrespect our choices, that affects our enjoyment of what we like to ride not at all.

But one'd think it must be a bit uncomfortable for the 'haters', all that bile swilling around

I love cruisers and I definitely love that fatboy look. But what bugs me about HD (like most american vehicles) is that they have big gulping engines that put out fuck all power which to me means only one thing -- inefficiency~

I'd love a cruiser with a sports tuned v-twin, lower cc, higher compression

That is a missconception that the world holds over the US.
Sad fact of the matter is the people whom make these thoughts public have a form of envy either due to being unable to obtain said vehicles (seen many american things in europe. Or envy due to testing said vehicle but not being allowed to publically expressive about their true thoughts about said vehicles.
I was once a member of the puplic in reference to the whole "american stuff sux" marketing. After having try some of the said vehicles.....i keep my mouth shut now.
Different strokes for different folks at the end of the day. Sometimes figures on paper to not give all people hard ons.
As reference to economy - the bigger the engine, doesn't mean the bigger the petrol bill. As i now know driving a 1.5L POS.

Well then you might find it impressive that my car (1.3) goes from mt eden to piha and back for $8, tho my motorcycle would have done that for about $3 i dont think you'll find many bigger engined cars doing better than that.

its not to say american stuff sux, and my car is a ford so that would contradict what i'm saying

I wouldnt be supprise if my older 3.8L Holden was too far off that mark.
A Buell Blast i borrowed (500cc) did the Piha loop within 10c the price of fuel that the GB400 i had.
However on the Flipside, my RG150 once is was tuned was more expensive to run than my friends 300ZX.
Like i said man its all relative - running costs on a harley are a fraction of mine.
