Radar detectors?

Has anybody had any recent experiences with Cobra Radar Detectors.

I have used search and didn't come up with anything recent.

I've had a cobra for 3 yrs now works well enough for me. No tickets while it has been on the bike. Even picked up an alert 6km down the desert road just about thought it was a false alert. For me its a safety warning device as I dont explore the upper ends of the speedo all that often.
I've modified my one with a cable hard wired to the speaker and terminating in a headphone socket so I can hear it above the stereo.

I paid $180 for it on Trademe

No recent experience but I had one a few years ago and it was an absolute piece of crap. I didn't get any tickets cos if false alarmed so much that I didn't really get a chance to speed.
