    Stolen CX500

A belated skim through the Hutt News produced this:

    Memories, freedom stolen.

I recieved a phone call early this week from my father (77 years old). He was in tears and highly emotional. He rang to tell me that someone had entered his property in Naenae and stolen his motorbike.

The motorcycle was a 1982 Honda CX Custom black and gold. An old bike one would say, however it was a lasting gift that my mother and a good friend of ours had arranged for dad a few years ago. To see him ride this machine was pure inspiration as he often said to me, "it makes me feel free".

My mother got the bike for him a week before she passed away, and for this darling old gent it was his connection to her, as they had (met?) when they were in England over 54 years ago and had been keen motorcyclists. ...snip...

May have been posted here but a quick search revealed nothing.

The article was by Brian Cole, in letters to the editor.

Be real nice to make a difference for once, anyone got anything?

    Can't find a 500.

At the risk of looking a little soft in the head, if we got a dollar from every active KBer.......

If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

Definitely an odd one to steal, can't be worth all that much money wise to anyone, but worth alot to an old bloke.
"I came into this game for the action, the excitement... go anywhere, travel light,... get in, get out,... wherever there's trouble, a man alone... Now they got the whole country sectioned off; you can't make a move without a form."

Paved roads are just another example of wasted tax payer dollars.

Good idea, and I for one could probably manage somewhat better than that.

Ideally those responsible would be required to return the bike prior to undertaking some suitable penance. The old gent's unlikely to see a replacement in quite the same light, but it'd be a worthy gesture and might go some way to restoring his faith...

I don't have time and it is a bit of an ask but if someone else tracks down the required details, establishes whether such a gesture might meet with approval and sets up a war fund I've got $100 for it.
