While we're at it I'm after a place to get a 96 zx6r key cut too. No shop I've been to so far seem to have the right blank for it!

I was thinking the same thing but got home to late to ring them. Was in the cage stuck in traffic. The Duc dealer in ham might know some one.

Mitre 10 couldn't cut a key for my bike either, I guess they dont' have that much of a selection. But the local locksmith was able to read the number off the old key and cut a new one based on specifications from the factory rather than just copying the old worn out key. I thought that was pretty cool

I suggest just try phoning some locksmiths places and seeing if they can do it.

Go to a proper Locksmith - you can just give them the serial number and they don't even need to key itself.

Thats what is required as they have the skills and know how. Plus if it does not work they will sort it out for free...

Smile Update on Queen St Locksmith

    Hi
Just reading your thread - thanks for the nice feedback on Auckland Lock Services!

Royce who owned Central Locksmiths - he sold his business when his site was bowled!! We brought his business and he came to work for us in our New Lynn shop.

Sadly Royce passed away, very suddenly, March 2006.

He was a true gentleman and a legend in Locksmithing!!!

But we always try to help here at Auck Lock so feel free to call in anytime, the motor bike enthusiats are Adrian & Kelvin.

Does the Duc come with a Engine imboliser system like the Honda HISS? The keys have a magnetic code and the two have to match else the engine gets imobilised... basically I can't just get a lock smith to cut a key it won't work...

Costs about $300 odd buts to get a new key... (luckily I have a spare already)

    just a thought thought...

Yes the ignition has to be on
No they dont need a fancy immobiliser key, well maybe the new ones do but not a 90s one.
I was lucky mine came with a spare so havn't had to consider it further.

My experiences with getting keys cut I wouldnt go back to Mitre 10, their machines seem alot less automated as far as copying the old key and dont seem to work as well as one from a proper locksmith.
