    Vandalised in Wellington CBD!

Have had my 2007 ZX-6R for about two weeks now... Just had the first service done...

Came outside this morning to find it parked 90 degrees turned from where I'd parked it... Shit...

Closer inspection, the bottom plastics gouged / scratched, the left side foot peg sheared in half, and I stopped looking after that... I'm imaging some drunk person having a sit, putting the kickstand up, and then forgetting to put it down. I cannot imagine how someone could have such little regard for something that doesn't belong to them... No note, nothing.

Not going to replace the plastics as they're not broken... New footpeg in tomorrow... Still, it was a bloody BRAND NEW bike yesterday...

Geez I'd be bloody spewing if I were you Mate; Check to see if there are any CCTV cameras around there - they are often "tucked away" or hidden behind tinted domes, - I would be VERY nice to be able to identify the Tosser......

Good Luck Mate, feeling 4 ya

Gutted mate. That really sucks. Not enough wind around this morning to tip her over either.

Is she left outside at night?

Thought of wind, but ruled it out for a number of reasons....

Wasn't that windy last night, compared to what it's already been through.
It tipped over on the stand side, which would require hurricane force winds.
It was turned 90 degrees and stood back up. If you saw someones bike that had fallen over (for whatever reason), would you pick it back up? I don't think I would- just to avoid the possibility of the owner seeing you pick up their bike and putting 2 and 2 together.

Yeah it's not ideal, but it's the best we've got (that I know of) where we live in CBD. It's left in a scooter / motorcycle parking area that's 5 feet outside the building where I live...

OK I know the bike. I pass it each morning and have been admiring it. It looks so lonely there all by itself each morning. I wondered why it was pointing towards the oncoming traffic this morning.

It's not good and I feel for you. Brand new bikes aren't meant to be parked in public though. Mine is 10 years old and I park it indoors at all times but then I'm lucky enough to have a locked private car park at work. For a commuter I'd get something that's straight but scratched and ugly - that way:

a/ people won't fuck around with it.
b/ if they do and it falls over then it's no big deal.

Doesn't help now though does it?

When I read that, I felt sick to the pit of my stomach.
I hope you catch the bastards.

Getting an alarm fitted with a nudge sensor should stop anyone tampering with it (unless it keeps getting set off with the wind). I would suggest a good solution where you can actually sleep at nights without constantly checking on your bike would be if you could rent a local lockup nearby?

Really sorry that it happened, are you sure it wasn't a car that did it?

You are crazy... if I was a low life scum sucking piece of shite, two big blokes and I would have that in me van and be off in under 30 seconds, locks, alarms, or naught!

/edit: In fact, even more fucked up... everyone knows where it is now... it's in a motorcycle park in Featherstone... and a quick look at an online map will give you the location of all of those.... I would find somewhere else myself... only takes one piece of shit to read this thread, and then they know where the bike lives all night. Not cool.

Ahh poop, sorry to hear about your pride and joy being munted by some complete munters

I think a good accessory to have would be a grenade on a trembler switch - just set it when you leave according to some variables (weight on seat, handlebars being fiddled with, flicking up of side stand and any drops) .. but we all know that we'd end up being the victim of our own security measures!

Thanks for all the replies guys...

I've got full cover for anything catastropic (i.e. The bike is gone)...

I see both sides of the story... I was / am naive for expecting it to be ok, but at the same time... It's a form of transportation that I'm going to use- rain shine or otherwise. I care for my things, but I don't baby them. I feel like altering my behavior is basically telling all the assholes that do stuff like this that they're justified and that the world will change to accomodate them.

I may look into parking it offsite, but honestly the convenience of having it 5 feet outside the door to come and go (it is my primary form of transportation) still outweighs what happened...

    Maybe I'm still in shock..
