Had a thought. I might rig an alarm system on my bike that triggers when the sidestand goes up when the steering lock is on. Might stop pricks from sitting on it. Mind you some idiot might get frightened and drop it in the process...

Sorry to hear about your bike anyway. At least it wasn't yourself dropping it in some silly mistake, as I did the day after I got my bike

I see both sides of the story... I was / am naive for expecting it to be ok, but at the same time... It's a form of transportation that I'm going to use- rain shine or otherwise. I care for my things, but I don't baby them. I feel like altering my behavior is basically telling all the assholes that do stuff like this that they're justified and that the world will change to accomodate them.

I may look into parking it offsite, but honestly the convenience of having it 5 feet outside the door to come and go (it is my primary form of transportation) still outweighs what happened...

    Maybe I'm still in shock..
dude im surprised a bus hasnt wiped it out coming off that bus lane just before the bike park cos you know how those inconsiderate buggers can be, they hit parked cars all the time.......shit touch wood!

Breaks ya heart the first spill of your brand new bike. Mine were all nice and shiny when I first got them. Didn't stay that way for long. One prick pushed my bike over as I turned my back to go into a shop - being deaf - I didn't hear it!! There's only so much you can do to protect your bike - otherwise you can live in constant paranoia - in which case - get a cage or a scooter. I do feel for you tho mate (you will still be in shock)

absolutely - RAGING -wouldn't describe my anger at needless shite parking or worse-someone that did it on purpose to get a better park.

Gutted man, I had a similar experience a while back. You feel really violated after having your property vandalised. Check out if there's any CCTVs around your place.

I had someone push my bike over when it was parked at uni many years ago. That was bad enough and it wasnt even close to being brand new.

Rather than looking for somewhere new to park Id suggest looking for somewhere new to live...

Sorry to hear that truly. I had mine backed into by another vehicle while parked last year. It was in "as new" condition too. No CCTV footage or witnesses could be found.

I know that feeling of shock/horror/disappointment/rage/etc when you get to the point you've described where the more you look the more damage you find. My repair bill came to $3500. Plus my $500 excess as the insurance company had no one to blame/track down for costs.

I'll have a beer in commiseration for plight later ok? Bad karma to those that are responsible for this. And mine. And the next one....

    Thumbs down

You have my greatest sympathies - I've had my little old bike deliberately vandalised several times - in fact it's still not back on the road b/c of the last attack! It sucks the BIG one! It's so frustrating that people have so little regard for other's property. I feel your pain!

    Well I'm pissed off.
It wasn't my bike but my 50cc Scooter. Some low life has smashed the rear indicator off while it was parked down at the local shops.

The indicators aren't in a location where they could be bumped into and broken, so they must have done it on purpose.

On the bright side, at least it was the scooter and not the bike.

I don't think I could leave my bike outside in the city anywhere apart from Uni, ironically I've managed to scam free covered parking from Wilsons just behind my hostel but I've sold my bike! What a waste. Where abouts in Wellington you living nerve?
