I'd ride it for a bit, all that torque would be quite fun, but wouldn't want to be seen on it

It will be converted into a coupla grand soon after that.

I know what you're saying but I'd have to call you on that one. I've only ever ridden sport tourers and no what to expect from them. I accept my lot as it stands. More comfort would always be good but the RF delivers on that side pretty well...
$2,000 cash if you find a buyer for my house, kumeuhouseforsale@straightshooters.co.nz for details

I know what my dualsports won't do too - doesn't stop me being annoyed when they aren't up to the task they weren't designed for.

I went from a ZX12R to a VN1600 V.Twin cruzzer ,reason keep my fecking liceince and live a few more years[lol]. Do miss the 300kp/h and the smell of burnt rubber while trying to keep the front wheel down, but must say theres just something about a shit load of low down grunt, like a mini V8

Nowdays H-D's are lovely motorcycles - particularly if you want to ride mostly legal, comfortably, carry a passenger and do it with real 'feel good'. I find they very aesthetically pleasing, well finished and desirable.

They have strong riding clubs, dealer support and an endless range of accessories and toys in what is a very complete package.

Most are also well suited to very tall people. (me)

Not everyone wants a 3000kph, uncomfortable, no passenger, immediate loss of licence, track bike.

I find the poll options and some of the resonses a little offensive. Particularly the 'real bike' thing. In general Harleys and the owners I've hung out with are just as real - and possibly more hard core - than any other bike - it's just a matter of taste.
Each to there own I.ve had 2 harleys, 2 triumphs and many others, now I got a brand new bike I could hav choosen anything ,but sorry mate from previous experience I bouhgt a Quakker, it out performs all my mates Harleys except the V.rod, in all ways except the extra 10,000 dollar name badge. But then if I won lotto I.d have a bike from all brands. Now if they bought out a new Sturgis I may be swayed a bit?

Nothin' to be sorry about. I got no problems with anybody riding anything. Personally I wouldn't own a metric cruiser - but I'm still polite to the people who have them. What 'gets' me is putting shit on a bike or class of rider because it's different to what 'you' like. It's someone elses pride and joy.

Yep your right I really believe plp hate harleys for 2 reasons,1 they are jealous and 2 in the80s and early 90s when I had mine they were pretty unrealiable which sort of put me off. But I still may end up with one the Night Train,or I pray for a rerelease of the Sturgis. Funny thing tho the custom parts for my bike forward controls, pipes solo seat[I.AM 6/3 tall ] are actually more expensive than a Harley comparrisin, go figure

I was in AMPS a few weeks back and came across the Harley NightRod.
It stopped me in my tracks and made me wonder if that could be my next bike.
On checking the details, it seems a bit limited in the cornering angle department compared to the other Street Rods. These latter seem to be getting a reputation for blurring boundaries.

It's no longer impossible that some of you might you get passed by a good guy on a Harley one day soon.

If you are one of the prejudiced "push it off a cliff" types, where would that leave you? In need of therapy?

Have a raffle - number of days.....

If I won a new Harley, I'd put it in the garage with a good alarm and bolt downs. I'd have a raffle with my friends to see how long it would take, and then wait with my shotgun in the corner for the first thieving a**holes to break in and try to steal it..... Closest number of days wins.

I feel sorry for Harley owners who have to live knowing that any night some scumbag is going to break in and try to steal their bike.

Cruisers are cool. But if it's my money, I think I'm going to by a vtr1000.....
