    WTF? Infringement cancellation?

Not that you would want to look a gift horse in the mouth or anything like that, and undoubtedly in the midst of girding loins etc for a court battle....... then ..

Why would the NZ Police pull over a vehicle (bike) for speeding in excess of 130kph, assert that that the radar fix was clear and incontestable, refuse to acknowledge other bikes were in said stream of traffic, refuse to provide calibration certificates, issue the infringement notice and then send out a formal cancellation notice within two days of alleged infringement.

Has anyone else had this happen?

Yep I got a speeding ticket on the 14th of last month, then last Saturday I got a letter in the post from the Police saying that the Officer had made a mistake when writing the ticket, so they were canceling the ticket, and that if I had already paid the infringment fee that it would be refunded, and all this without me even writing in to them, also I cant for the life of me see any mistake on the ticket.

Post a copy of your ticket! I wasn't intending on trying to get off mine but if it looks like yours....

It sounds like there is a competent traffic Sergeant somewhere who takes a close and active interest on what their frontliners are up to. Good on them!

There's an election coming up next year...they might have been told to back off in the interests of 'public relations'.

You mean we get to elect our cops? I see some possibilities with this.....
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Wish they'd done it a few months ago if this was to be the case. Got done for 113 in an 80 $300 and 40 points. first ticket in 15 years!!

Still won't be voting for Labour with the society they are creating.

We've had this happen a few times over the years. Once for excessive black smoke in our old truck, and we'd clocked up about $700 fines. We eventually got a letter saying the cop had miscalculated it by 19 cents, so it we could disregard the fine. Thank you Mr Officer

I got pulled over about a year ago for passing on a central median. Best service I ever got from a cop (y'know, as nice as it can be). On the ticket he misspelt the street name, said I was passing on a "central media", and even misspelt my occupation. He seemed real nice and I wonder if he did it deliberately...
