Sniff, sob, my cbr600 is gone. RIP my baby

I had an accident this morning (7.30am)on my way to work.
Someone ran a red, turned across in front of me.
I hit his front guard, and went for a wee flying lesson.
The cops said I hit his windscreen with my head.
I only remember me head hitting the tarmac, then thinking, this is gona hurt.

Luckily I'm home with very sore legs and a dislocated finger. (which I put back in waiting for the ambo.LOL.)

I put my survival down to my low speed at intersections and falling off the pocketbikes we race. I have learnt to relax when I come off.

Be careful out there guys and girls.

Oh crap! What is it about these dudes who run red lights? I always enjoyed my flying lessons ... but they were all in aircraft.

    The bod is going to hurt tomorrow and for the next 4 days at least ... how bad is da bike? {he says, having a soft spot for CBR600's}

    Hi Grub,

Well put it this way, it's f&%$#d.
Bits of bike all over the intersection.

The front end is gone and possibly bent the frame.

Sorry to hear. Hope you heal fast.
But when are the powers-that-be gonna start targetting this sort of shit?? Oh yea - much easier to nab folks 11k over.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

    Hey there.
Sorry to hear about your accident. Those bloody people who run red lights need a SWIFT KICK UP THE ASS.
Which intersection did it happen and was is at another black spot?
I hope you have a speedy recovery and are back out riding soon.
My fingers are broken and i haven't been able to ride for weeks so i can sort of sympathize with you.
    All the best

I've learnt to hide the pain inside, open the throttle and ride away.

Grrrr ... that's horrid. How pissed off were the cops at the guy(?). I bet it was pathetic watching him trying to explain himself.

The worst part is that you'll probably have to wait weeks and weeks for the insurance coy to make up their mind and to pay you out so you can replace her.

yeah the cops were going to arrest him, except he was in total shock. He has been summond to appear at a later time. He was in his mid 30's.

He has admitted full responsibility. There were heaps of witnesses.

If he had of been an arse about it, they were going to throw the book at him.

I give full credit to the St John's, Police and Waitakere Hosp. They were fantastic and on the spot real fast.

Bummer, heal up fast and sort the insurance payout ASAP.

In the meanwhile ponder how lucky you are not getting T boned!

And for some amusement have a read of this thread here.

And another biker gets nailed by a red light runner. They just don't think when they run the red. When are the Police and Courts going to sort these people out. They're always sorry when they have an accident......

    Hope you get better soon.
