Wet Wet Not Wet

Weather looked sweet when we set out to spend a bit of coin at Cycletreads today. Went to visit KBs fav' Devonport Dweller afterwards and it started to rain. Now, i dont mind the rain, infact, i quite enjoy it. I wouldn't intentionally gear up and go for a ride in it (thats just stupid) but if its starts while you are out...no worries. I did however leave my wets at home (wont need em' right?) Lucky for me GB had a set i could jump into, cheers GB for the wets and Nana cake and coffee's... On the way home i could see the road markings through Devonport/Takapuna...rain would not roll off the visor, so kept it up a tad so could see. It was pissing down!.. close it and it fogged up, and with the rain seeming to stick..mmmm very uncomfortable riding. Thought that when i got onto the motorway and a bit of speed the visor would deal to itself....nup!... fuckin' water was on the INSIDE of the visor...stopped and got it sorted at Orewa, but another heavy down pour 10 mins from home and it happened all over again. I know why its happening but the rest of me stayed dry as a really really dry thing...but 2IC got soaked...will return the wets someday GB...cheers mate. Has this wet inside the visor thing ever happened to others?..

it's never happened to me in my shoei -met some monsoon/sheet rain on the thames straight recently and still no leak...
therefore...i'm-a-thinking- you steamed yoself up...too much hotstuff behind you lid?

Yeah possibly....but i had enough gas to get me home tho'.....

You need catcrap which prevents visor fogging up so you dun need to open your visor cost $9.95 from motomail. I just use some diluted bath gel and rub it on my visor and works a treat.

Catcrap huh?.... i'll check it out next time in the Collage Hill area...it was the amount of rain and slow pace the made things difficult to see. Thats why i raised the visor, so i could see, and thats how the water got on the inside. Thought it was strange to have the wet stuff hitting my eyes while visor was on one click open...

You are right G.....that exactly it, first time its ever happened so was a bit like...WTF?...the finger wipe didnt shift it so i knew it was either A....really sticky rain or B... on the inside.

Cat crap is great for stopping fogging but doesn't make actual drops of water slide off any easier.
I know from annoying experience, my helmet seems to let a bit of rain in under my chin, and the drips fly up and hit the visor and stay there. Annoying!
I just had to stop and wipe the inside of the visor off, and then I scrunched up my neckwarmer so it stopped spray from below. But I have no real permanent solutions apart from a better designed helmet, or maybe some of that Nikwax Visor-proof (like Rain-X except safe to use on plastic) on the inside.

I have a Shark RSX helmet, an absolute bitch in the rain. It fogs like a Romanian sauna and lets rain inside the visor. I never had a problem with my old Shoei, I'll buy another one day.

It was GOOD RAIN coming home today! Lucky pillion does not have to face it down, one click open on the visor and hey presto no worries..........but.......what is with the brand new 100% waterproof, leather gloves that I was wearing........they have had about 6 trips out now and today was the first test in the real wet.

Only 5 mins into the trip and I had water running into my right glove, thought it because we were in traffic and stopping at lights and it was dribbling down from my jacket, but no! these gloves are not water proof at all! Soggy, revolting, wet squiggy mess by the time we got home. At least it was warm, not sure I would want to test them in the cold and wet.

Interesting too, this is the first time I have ever got wet in my cordura, not soaked but damp and well wet, guess I better learn up on how to re water proof these babies...
