    insurance help

cbr1000f, and what a drain it is to have my toy insured, can anyone suggest any good companies?

also is it a good thing to belong to a club does this help? and if so what clubs are out there?

does anyone have any experiences bad or good that could help with deciding.

it costs alot so i want the real deal.

    Well

I found State to be the cheapest, but that was when I was eligble for a no-claims bonus. Now, I think I'll be paying 2400 a year. I'll probably still stick with State though, since I'm insuring everything else with them aswell.

Shop around, as you know. Let us know how you get on (who you choose, how much they are). Oh, since you're over 25, it'll be cheaper for you
    Dave.

I use AMI, not as cheap as I thought but for a bike worth $14,000 you can expect a premium of $850 upwards, I'm paying about that and that's with house & contents and vehicle ins. with them - and I have a 'clean' licence, 50 years+, and nil claims. Just to give you an idea.

I am organising insurance at the moment as well, I am over 30 and have never claimed and have everything (house, car etc) with State there quote for full cover (6.5K) was over 700 and Classic Cover (underwritten by NZI) was just over 300.00, Protecta was just over 500. I talked to State about why they were so high and they said a specialist bike insurer will usually be cheaper so I am seriously thinking of using Classic Cover but I think it is for only over 30's there was one more I called I think it was Star Insurance and there price was about 380.00.
Hope this gives you some idea.

I was recently told about Classic Insurance. They were cheaper than most others and will use them when my present insurance runs out at the end of the month.

    Classic Insurance, tel 0800 456 254

    Re insurance

Lot been talked about this B4 somewhere in the past, anyway, have you tried Honda riders club?, they have a bulk deal with David Golightly Broker in the Main land, They do all bikes not just Hondas, I think I am paying about NZ$47.00 per month on my 04 R6.

Being in the industry (Commercial Broker), I should warn you guys that comparing premiums is almost pointless. Different underwriters use different critera apart from engine size and sum insured. Other factors that come into it are claims, age, geographical area and licence type. Some have an minimum age and some will not insure specific makes (HD for example). Best advice - talk to a broker (of course I would say that).

I was with Swann (through Kiwibiker), $53 ($636 pa) a month for 10k bike. After writing that off a couple of months ago, quoted $71 a month ($852).

Swann good to deal with, settled reasonably quickly.

Which reminds me I must insure the new TL asap.

My Blackbird is fully comp through John Baker in Auckland. Full no claims discount, 56 years of age, insurance value $17k, $970 for a year. Don't know whether I can get it any cheaper but when I got the 'bird nearly 4 years ago, State quoted me $1100 (and we had the rest of our premiums with them), NZI quoted $1400 and JB were just under $900 so I've stuck with them.
