Wasn't it you who first said about Yamaha two strokes not being a REAL sports bike?

Despite the fact they had a long history of two stroke sports bike long before the Yamaha four strokes came along and I must have been mistaken but wasn't the thread titled Yamahas first sports bike?

I guess I'm only allowed an opinion on what constitutes their first sports bike if it agrees with yours

For what it's worth (which will be SFA to you) I enjoyed riding them,at the same time a friend had a 650 Tiger and I would have had the XS over it any day,everything worked just that little bit better than the Triumph and the XS didn't seem to lose as many bits to vibration the only area the Triumph seemed to out perform the XS was a little more wank factor as Triumphs were a bit more rare at the time

When I was living in Dunedin for a couple of years I "raced" a TQ at Beachlands (I say "raced" 'cos the car was a fucked piece of shit that could barely drag itself along) Anyway, one of the other TQ drivers had a Yamaha 650 in his car. Had a shed full of motors for spares, when they blew up (which was quite often) he just threw the old motor away, cut the gearbox off another one and off he went again. He was fairly successful considering only 650 when the class limit was 800, and GS/GSX Suzukis were the motor to have.
