    Ignorant cyclists strike (almost) again

Those of you who live in Wellington may know the area I'm talking about.

The Maungaraki Interchange has started and the construction team are leaving crap all over the road, so I go up through Korokoro to avoid all that stuff, which has the added benefit of being tight enough to be entertaining at legal speed. I went up London Rd last night, and at the intersection of London Rd and Maungaraki Rd (which is in Korokoro) a horde of freaking cyclists exited the intersection right into my path without even pausing at the Intersection.

How can you sad sacks of lycra clad meat even begin to think that is a safe and acceptable practice on the road? I had to nail the brakes through an intersection that is mostly manhole covers. To add insult to injury the bastards then spread out to take up the whole road, ON THE WAY INTO A MOSTLY BLIND CORNER. This is a bus route we're talking about. At night, in the dark on a street that isn't that well lit in part.

If I'd fallen off, it would be a safe bet that they'd have ridden off into the distance. If I'd hit one, the aggro bastards would probably have put the boot in.

    I. Want. These. "Green". Idiots. Off. The .Road.

The road isn't your private race track, idiots.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

I know what you mean with these ignorant fuckers, came upon a bunch of about 8 or 10, on saturday heading up to Morrinsville, they where heading in the same direction taking up the whole road into a blind righthand corner, not one of the fuckers pulled over to let me through, now my bike isnt exactly discreet in the exhaust department so these pricks knew i was there (and they would have had at least a couple of minutes warning that i was coming), followed them through a couple of corners then made an "assertive" pass, was tempted to put the boot in on the way past.

Garlic around your neck and salt across your doorway.
Their dickhead mates who lurk here will be after your blood for daring to 'speak out'
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

[generic insult relating to Jim2's parentage]

[moderation thereof following realisation that Jim2 makes valid point]

[further comments in favour of cycling]

    [anticipation of refutation]

[acknowledgement and acceptance of feet of clay]

This subject has been done to death.

Cyclists should admit (and the KB-resident ones have admitted) that, in bunches, many of their compatriots tend to ride like cunts.

Everyone else should try riding an 8kg pushbike with 10mm tyre contact patches on the road sometime. They'd get fitter and it would assist with empathy.

We gave up on "An Asian Driver Pulled Out In Front Of Me Today" threads on KB years ago. I think it's time to put the "Cyclists Are Bastards" threads to rest as well.

If my avoidance action had failed it would have cost me or my Insurance company thousands, thereby pushing up everybody's insurance in small increments.

Yes there are road users of all sorts who cause issues. An individual cyclist is not a problem. 2 or more and they become a dangerous hazard. They do not care one tiny little bit about sharing a public road and any criticism of their inability to obey even the very loose guidelines laid out in the road code gets you the "you just don't understand" speech.

There's not much to understand. Cyclists in groups fail to obey even common sense injury avoidance habits. If I hit one because he/she flew out of a side street at 40 kms/hr only loosely under control, the court will throw the book at ME. There is NO way to identify these mobile hazards and therefore they continue to behave like prize idiots because they'll get away with anything that happens to either the other road user or injury to themselves. It will be the powered vehicle's fault.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with you Jim2.

Bunches of cyclists act like fucktards that think they own the road.

But we must also temper this with acceptance of the facts that bunches of trucks act like fucktards that think they own the road and bunches of cagers act like fucktards that think they own the road and bunches of KBers often act like Fucktards that think they own the road.

You can choose to hate cyclists if that pleases you - I choose to hate fucktards as described in this post.

I'm just disappointed at being called a dickhead by someone who I considered to be a good friend.

*sigh* no one came baying for blood. The prediction was inaccurate. Jim2 says these sort of inflamatory things often - we're used to it (actually makes me smile!).
