I understand your surprise at the pricing on some of RB's bikes, but to be fair to them, they have all the right in the world to put whatever price they like on their wheels.
Constantly raising this issue isn't doing you, RB, or even any of their prospective clients any good.
If it concerns you that much, maybe you should discuss the situation with their sales manager.
I have no connection with said shop.

Yea, I spotted that one too, maybe it didn't sell coz it was orange an they repainted it again. =)

It's twelve years old. And, for $8.5k, it will sell. We are heading right into the thick of newbie season, the sun is shining, and somebody somewhere wants the nicest/fastest 250 they can lay their hands on. They'll sell it. And a grand's worth of gear.

with all the money these young fellas put into there cars i cant see them having a problem forking out 8k for a bike they can ride on there learner
licence, if theres a market for them the bikes shops gonna expliot it after all it is a business,as for me i'd never pay that much for a 2nd hand 250.
i'm in 2 minds over this part of me says what a fucken rip off,the other says good on them for making a profit.

Red Baron's prices for shitty old imported and spruced-up 250s are just the invisible hand of Adam Smith at work, I'm afraid.

The huge number of new Hyosung GT250Rs appearing on the roads is testament to the way the NZ market is gagging for sporty 250cc bikes. There will always be folk out there who can't bear to make do with 30hp for the duration of their learner and restricted licences; the aging fleet of ZXR/CBR two fiddy imports is their only legal hope.

Funny thing is both the orange and green one going for 8.5g isn't stock standard factory fairing decals. They have ZX10R decals which suggest it has been painted....for whatever reason you be the judge.

And yes this has been discussed a few times. Business is business, gotta make a dollar or two and more if you can like Red Baron. It's amazing how the GT 250 R shitters sell like hot cake and yet the n0o0obs don't go out and get a RS250 for that money?

Hello0o0oo..is there something wrong with me or the rest of NZ?

I'd just like to point out that I ride said 30Hp bike and I have a full license :P

The large number of ho bags on the road is testament to the fact that a lot more people are getting a bike license (and this is a good thing!) and that the ho bag is a decent price for a brand new machine, not to mention that your average consumer knows that 8.5 Grand for a 14 year old bike is a rip off.

Why someone would want to spend that much on such an old machine is beyond me. If thats the market value because crazy people want to go fast in their first year riding then thats business I guess. Couldn't sell it myself though, to much of a socialist.

Like Warlock I also ride a 250 on a full license but only parted with 6 G for something brand spanking, piece of mind and hell it goes fast enough for me. Still would have liked a brand new 400 or 500 twin though if they still existed. For whatever reason I just couldn't buy a second hand motorbike, had to be new.

I don't see the problem. They aren't bending people over. Sounds to me that if they can get away with those kinds of prices then there must be plenty of people out there who are more than willing to do all of the bending completely unassisted. Power to them.
