    Screamer or H.A.R.D. ?

    Opinions people.
Which one to use with your detector ... and why ?
I've selected a detector to buy, and have the choice of either system to use, but want advice from those of you who are using either one of these systems ... or any other systems out there .... ?
    Cheers,
    Grant.

I am about to mount one under the fairing with an additional LED glued to the top of the screen to catch my eye. What is H.A.R.D?

    Hi there Laava,
Well ... I can't remember what the letters actually stand for at the moment, but someone will for sure.
What it is ... is a LED display unit that fits inside your helmet, and it flashes any time your detector puts out a signal. This is detected via the output plug from the detector, into a receiver which is often secured on the underside of the detector. The signal is then transmitted wirelessly to the LED in your helmet. Some people prefer this to the audio (Screamer) letting you know something's up!

Yes the hard system does sound easy. I was only concerned about keeping the transmitting device from getting wet. The radar detector has a cover, but not sure if there is anything available for the hard transmitter.

Wednesday nights will be an option for me soon with any luck, but have been flat out with work and completing post grad papers.....

    What?

"I like the H.A.R.D. one!" Never thought I'd say anything like that on a website, especially a biker one! I've got one hooked up to a Valentine. Works well. Ride with a guy that has an earplug thingy and have seen him rip it out twice so far.

    Helmet Assisted Radar Detection.
I run a V1 with HARD. I carry a small plastic bag and rubber band in my jacket in case it rains - which is never in Wgtn. When out of Wgtn and it starts raining I just slip the bag over mount which covers the radar and HARD unit.
I have seen riders using a wire to an ear plug...and always adjusting it and getting the wires tangled. What a pain in the arse.

I use an ear plug and it is a pain in the arse but it works well and I'm used to it now.

I haven't seen the research but I tend to agree, not that I've tried the HARD system so can't compare visual to audio.

If I had the cash, this is the system that I would use:
    Bluetooth Audio Link Kit
Anyone else out there using it?

I use the H.A.R.D device on my V1, with the red led mounted in my peripheral vision in my helmet somewhere. Works wonders. Personally comming out from a tight corner the last thing I want is something screeming in my ears... I'd rather get a ticket than fall off my bike in fright.

And something lying in to your peripheral vision is not going to make your flinch or try to avoid it as it pops up unexpected?

Well that was my opinion, it needn't be yours. Besides I can ignore anything in my peripheral vision if I choose. I cannot choose not to hear a scream in my eardrum. A small light is less likely to startle me.
