Read this in the sportsbike tread but not bad another sporty 250 to take on the popular Hyosung. Trying to find out about the specs but non available yet. Wonder when Honda is going to release a 2008 CBR 250.

It has been posted up here before, but they were paparazzi photos, not confirmation.

I'm absolutely delighted. I hate the 250 market with all my black heart. Finally, Red Baron won't be making 90% profit out of 20 year old bikes.

45hp at the crank of course, mind you that's what they said the old 250s had

And that's from a twin, too, so it'll be 45hp you can just twist the throttle and use like a big bike, instead of winding the thing up through 18,000rpm or so (as fun as that is).

I expect it's going to be rather expensive over here. I wonder how many you'll see on the roads.

Good move, although I don't see Honda following suit.

Well it'd be good to see something like this to open up the 250 'sports' market a bit.

But still gotta love those 18,000 redlines on the old school ones

That '05 pic you linked to is a photoshop job, ZX6R front end with a swingarm and exaust of a honda VFR. Looks bloody nice though.

    Can anyone confirm 45HP?

I've also noticed that in the press releases they've said a single 290MM petal disc on the front, yet the specs on their site say 260MM petal disc on the front. which is it?!?!

Considering Yamaha and Honda have just made the new little fuel injected 125cc roadbikes the Yamaha YZF-R125 and Honda CBR-125R... Kawasaki just says F**k it... we'll just fix up this bike that we haven't changed for over 20 years (1986 - 2007)... Makes you wonder what Suzuki has up their sleeve...

looks great, bout time some one gave Hyo a run for its money in the new bike department, i wonder if the motor is just a trimmed down version of the Er6f motor, kawasaki seem to like these paralell twin jobbies.

Just checked out the UK Kawasaki site. http://www.kawasaki.co.uk/250r/default.asp?Sub=6549116

Don't know if this is final but its on their site so who knows. It has the old model power figures and the new as well (although UK old model bike has different power numbers than NZ site) for example the new one has 21 nm at 8500 and the old kiwi one has 24 at 9000. New one has 30 ps at 10500 and kiwi one 38 ps at 12500). http://www.kawasaki.co.nz/kawasaki_c...50F7F&do=specs

Bit of hype mixed with pictures of what is a good looking bike has got people wishing a bit I think. It looks like it should be a lot more powerful than the old one, but in reality it will probably just be a little more refined engine wise. Might explain why there appears to be only a slight price increase in the US.

New bike looks to be taller at 780 seat height vs 740 and with stiffer forks and rear shock with pre-load the new bike will cater for a wider range of riders than the current model.

So I am thinking if we see it here we will have a Ninja that is better looking, will have superior handling and a slightly improved engine that (apparently) is more responsive at lower revs than the current model. Will it be the rocket we were all hoping for? unfortunately it isn't looking that way (although they could be restricting the power output for the Uk bikes to meet the needs of the learners rules)
