I'm not sure mate - but if you see a sign saying Forgotten Highway, turn around and go back......unless you're on a trailie or in a rally car.

That's a bit radical. The forgotten World Highway is everybody's favourite ride locally. There is only about 10k of gravel between Stratford and taumarunui.

    Cowboyz,

There are still some metal roads toward the mountain from Inglewood, I'd have to check. Stay away from Bedford road, last time I looked it was still in about four bits which are not connected in the middle...

    Cowboyz,
Agreed. It's easily doable on a road bike. Hell I did over half of it on my loaded up GB400 with a flat front tire- http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...647#post641647

That "road" isn't contiguous, as shown on your "map". There is no top road on the east side of Mt Egmont. Check it out a better map product. Derby Road is only formed between Surrey and York Roads.

the map has the ability to learn so as I go I can cross roads off as I go. There might be a bit of a learning curve to it and a few oh shit this road doesnt exist moments but eventually it should be right.

Rode Taupo to Stratford going thru the forgotten highway last Sat.... apart from about 8 km of hard packed dirt road it was FAN-DUCKEN-TASTIC!!!!

Would highly recommend it, and the dirt road is not so bad.... if a girl can do it, hahaha.

Stop at the Whanga pub for a drink, and locals are pretty friendly tooo!
