    Vance and Hines Straight Shots.

Have gone and bought a set of Vance and Hines Straight shots for the C90. Can't wait to get them fitted. Pretty busy at the moment though so it may be a week or two before I get them on. Might be a bit loud but? Anyone else out there seen or heard them on a C90?

I have the Cruzers for my M50 which are apparently quieter than the straightshots - and they are crazy loud. Have you given any thought to how you're going to plug the O2 sensor into them?

Question : are straight shots legal ? I heard a rumour that they were failing them for a WOF cos they are too loud. Something to do with a change in legislation due to the 'boyracers' fitting loud pipes to their crapheaps .

Bought them from Sportzone Suzuki in ChCh. I have to say the guy down there was a great help in the accessories dept.. Very helpful. I have been in touch with a guy,Gary, in Ch.Ch.through the LC1500/C90 group, who has just fitted a set and he is happy. A bit loud but "Not overly Loud". I know I got the last set ($750.00 inclusive)I will catch up once fitted!!

The trouble is it's usually down to the tester. I got a prize twat at one joint but I simply went home, fitted the originals and got my wof, soon to reverse the muffler-swapping act. Six months later I got a wof no probs from a different tester with the loud mufflers.

Also, even if you have a wof and get plucked on the side of the road for whatever and the cop wants to be an arse'ole he can deem it too noisy all by himself and it's down to you to prove otherwise. This usually entails fitting quieter mufflers, getting a decibel meter test at an approved station and having your exhaust all written up etc. It's a mish. So, if you've got loud mufflers, don't give the rozzas any shit should you get stopped.

It's all so airy-fairy that most cops don't bother, especially if you're just cruising around but find yourself a friendly wof tester and stick to him.

. Won't be able to make it. Got a builder here doing some work at home and I said I would give him a hand. I may also start fitting the pipes or may leave them and get them done at work next week. Have a big weekend planned. I sure want to get them on and I will be in touch.

    Yep. What peasea said.

Enjoy your nice awesome sounding pipes and take it easy if stopped. Don't go out of your way to negatively attract attention to yourself. Do some quality networking at your local WOF testing station. This will give you hassle free riding if all goes well.

I took my bike down to the local testing station and had a civil chat to the boss tester regarding whether my pipes will pass. He listened to them and said he is ok with them but advises to take it easy. He said your behaviour can determine how cops or WOF inspectors behave. I have Cobra Speedster Slashdowns on my meanie and they are loud but awesome.

Are you taking any prescription medication? [Rain Man]

Most guys just cut the wire to the O2 sensor and bundler it up under the tank leaving it still conected without causing any problems with FI.

The guy I referred to earlier in Christchurch who has just fitted them, says he will not have problems getting a warrant. I spoke to him again today. The sound is good. I'll let you all know when I get em going. They do have removeable baffles!! Mine will be a stayin in.

Good advice. I couldn't agree with you more. If you go looking for trouble you will probably find it. Most of the cops are more interested in your bike anyway. You just got to be wary of the odd rsol and that's where your attitude can make the difference. Young guys 'Take Note' - Can save you heaps!
