    Thanks again everyone
Sorry to hear about your loss. I hope that somehow the thieves are dumb enough to get caught and you get your bike back in the same state that you parked it. I know just how gutted you must feel and will be keeping a lookout this way, should it ever end up over these parts.

What a pack of thieving scum!
Hope it comes back to you in perfect condition and I wish a pox on the pond scum that stole it.

    Update. Nothing much really.
The police have been good. They rang Mrs Oakie 3 times last night to keep her up to date with what was happening. They had an idea where the bike may have been and were going to go around and 'visit' last night if they had time but they became involved with a couple of firearms incidents which understandably get priority. Their last phone call indicated that they suspected the bike to be at an address in Hornby area and the matter was to be handed off to the local station to deal with depending on their workload this morning. Sadly we've heard nothing and are now almost resigned to not getting the bike back. As I type this, Pina Coladas are softening the blow (now that we have the recipe right ... yummeeee!)

Mrs Oakie recovers well though and she's already got her eye on a couple of replacements ... and yes, one is an Eliminator. The other is a Kwaka ZR250 Balius ... a naked inline 4. (nooo....not to be confused with a naked 'inline four' as that just does not bear thinking about).

We'll post up here if anything else comes to light regarding the thieving bastard too.

Oh, the cops said they do have surveillance footage of it happening so I might see if I can get hold of an image and do something 'creative' with it like selling the rights to smashing the guys fingers on Trade Me. Might get the $250 to cover the insurance excess.

    As a former Westie.

Hmmm. Late night visit, can of petrol. No more blue Nissan van, garage and house either.
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

No happy endings yet. I think that the best we can hope for is that they catch the guy eventually for something else and he gets to face charges for this at the same time. On the other hand, the insurance pay-out will be about double of what she would have got as a trade in at upgrade time next year so perhaps overall it'll finish up saving us money. 'Silver lining' anyone?

That the spirit, keep looking on the bright side.
I hope you find a nice bike soon.

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
    Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

    If life seems jolly rotten
    There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
    Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

    For life is quite absurd
    And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.

So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath

    Life's a piece of shit
    When you look at it
    Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
    You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.

And always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...
    (Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the bright side of life...
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life...
(I mean - what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
    What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life...

Sorry to hear about your bike. I know you spent quite a time selecting the one you really liked.

I lost my bike 2 weeks ago.
Not too thieves,(very disheartening) but a red light runner.
I'm still recovering from my injuries, but boy do I miss my bike.

I have another bike, but it's not my CBR600.
Why do the morons that do these things have to disrupt other peoples lives so much.

    Hope they catch the buggers

Sorry to hear of your two wheeled loss Mrs Oakie, I hope the scumbags get the Karma deserved.

Hope the cops can find them and at least stop it happening to other bike owners in the area.

    Good luck with everything!
