Point taken Scumdog. We wern't following each other very close, it was on a 25 corner so we were already slowed down, it was more the suddeness of coming around a tight corner and having no warning. The guys following us, they had enough warning after seeing us in front suddenly stopping.
"I came into this game for the action, the excitement... go anywhere, travel light,... get in, get out,... wherever there's trouble, a man alone... Now they got the whole country sectioned off; you can't make a move without a form."

Paved roads are just another example of wasted tax payer dollars.

Friday night just gone spiltting on the way home as one does when this head shot out of the right rear window (already open) I thought it was going to be a dog barking and growing but not...

A girl, head out the window and out the window right at me! How the hell she missed I don't know but it was close enough to make me check my boots etc when I got a clear piece of road and I could afford to look down for 5 seconds.

If fact - that () is a remarkably accurate visiual account.

Well I guess many of us have has the same nasty moments and probably for the same reasons ... but probably the scariest I had was with Mrs Oakie on the back (before she was Mrs Oakie) and a drunk driver trying to deliberately trying to knock us off. I avoided him by driving into the gutter infront of a parked car so he couldn't get at us. Fortunately a cop was going the other way and saw it all, chased the guy and he finished up losing his license for 6 months.

And oh, btw, 'accidents' are rare, 'crashes' are common.

    Wink

Close calls, too many to separate.Theres the early hours of the morning ,I'm the only one on the road, idiots who skip red lights in front of you. Then there is the I'll just turn in front of you without bothering to look idiots and my favourite when you have them on both sides of you trying to turn in front of you and catch you in a combined pincer movement. Or the I'll ride up your back wheel because I thought you had pulled off already and didn'nt actually bother to check.Had a guy walk across the road in front of me with a lawnmower blissfully unaware of my oncoming presence.Fortuneatly being aware of my surroundings and treating all other road users as idiots has stood me in good stead so far.

Had a close call on last friday doing the Coro loop with some others, we come around a blind corner down hill, FUCK, cars stopped in the middle of the road, watch PirateJafa almost collect GIJoes rear end, I almost ran into PirateJafa, Out-law ran past me in a locked rear brake slide and so on through all the riders, cops at the scene of an accident, but none around the corner to warn anyone. They were lucky we were following traffic and not at our usual speed or else there would have been another accident.
wow... what a scene. Had that happen once around coro as well, around a 45 k corner to find a stopped car waiting for a set of road works traffic lights. Those of us that stopped quickly moved to the side to make room for those behind us. Some of us even ran back to the corner to slow everyone down.

Yeah it wasnt the nicest way to start the day lol...

This morning... She came in to get me... I went oh shit 'not again?!?'...

But just needed me to move it for her. My 'If you not sure you can move it from where its parked (cars in drive this morning, not much space)... wake me up/come get me to do it..' has worked, so thats all good. 'no tryin to move it yourself...' lol

Coming down off the TV transmitter hill (near Palmy North) on the RD350LC.

Round the last corner of gravel road, almost on the tar-seal, and there was a low Japanese import (this was in 1990) parked right in the middle of the road.

He'd stopped to check if he had the clearance to drive on the gravel. Both of his doors were open. Nowhere to go so brake and fall and bend and rip and tear.

    Suck (and multiple lessons learned).
Measure once, cut twice. Practice makes perfect.

I was riding to get a warrent last week and going along a stretch of road a car decided that they would reverse out onto the road and stop, covering both lanes. Had to emergency brake and managed to pull small stoppies. Wound up stopping about 1m from the car while the girl in the car just stared at me... Bloody scary. Kinda my fault for not expecting it i guess.

Being t-boned by a car coming out of an industrial driveway while I was on a a main street was the worst "incident" I've had. Gerty suffered a bent peg mount/shock and cracked side cover wereas I received a broken tibia and fibia. Didn't realise it till I tried to put the side stand down then went into shock.........................

Neither me or the driver of the car were speeding. Gerty had only 80kms up and was being run in.
